Sergio the manager provided excellent service throughout the nearly one week that I stayed at Hotel Pelican Bay. It started with a friendly email before I arrived that very usefully informed me of the complicated path from the airport to the hotel via a bus, ferry and taxi. I was glad to have him arrange a driver to meet me and negotiate this complex process. Once at the hotel, Sergio arranged at least four different day trip boat tours for me, greatly easing my stay. His advice was always excellent. Even on the first half day that I arrived, he suggested a short walk to Charles Darwin station in the afternoon, which was terrific, especially his suggestion of the nearby Stacion beach with its many black iguanas. I very much appreciated that he took the care to arrange the day trips by order of increasing difficulty, so I could start getting used to the water with the easier half day bay tour followed by some shorter day tours, as I had some seasickness to overcome. He arranged the Pinzon day trip at the end of my stay, which was the highlight of my trip, snorkeling with penguins!

The hotel location is within easy walking distance of the main dock, shops, restaurants, etc. The hotel room itself was clean and basic.

Hint: the best grilled fish that I've ever had was at the fish market a couple of minutes from the hotel along the main street. You'll see it's where they bring in the day's catch, and immediately beside it is this informal-looking open air set of white plastic tables and chairs where they grill up the fish. It's amazing seafood!

Visited as a large party of 22 staying over a week on a diving holiday.
Rooms were clean, well maintained but basic -but was exactly what we wanted.
Breakfast consisted of fruit salad, pancakes and juices and was more than adequate.
Staff friendly and always smiling. Better than expected.

We stayed here as part of a group and personally really liked it. Great location near the main street but reasonably quiet, very close to the fish market with the pelicans & sea lions. We had a safe in our room but routinely left valuables out that we couldn't fit in there and had no problems, in fact I left a $10 tip for the girl that cleaned our room and after three days I had to go and find her as she just left it there!! This is a basic hotel but it is clean and well kept. It is in a very good location and the staff are very helpful. They will lock luggage away for you if you want to go to another island and don't want to take it all with you. Artiles....please buy some cushions for the sunbeds!!!

I left a wallet in the pocket of a shirt on a hanger with $80 because there was no safe. When I returned that evening, there was only $50. The management was most unhelpful.

Stay away from the restaurant under the windmill around the corner. The drinks are horrible and the service slow.

Room tip: Find a different hotel.

The hotel is located approximately 45 minutes taxi ride from the dock. The cost for the taxi was $15.

This hotel is your pretty basic hotel with basic amenities, a bed, fridge and television which we never turned on. The room looked clean but the furniture smelled moldy. At least the bed sheets were clean and the pillows were soft but the bed was way too firm.

The bathroom was dingy and the water in the shower takes a while to heat up so get used to a cold shower!

Also the Wifi in the room goes on and off, you can only get a good signal if you are sitting in front of the reception area.

A plus side to this hotel is its great location, located just one block from Charles Darwin Ave and the center of town. They also serve a tasty breakfast which consisted of eggs cooked your way, bread, yogurt with granola and fruit, coffee and juice. Unfortunately we weren't impressed with the hotel so we only stayed one night and found another hotel on the island.
