I love Dahab and loved this hotel last time I stayed there. Most of what I said before goes but I think the owners need to get their act together and pop in for a visit. The positives - the pool staff were helpful, moving sun beds as needed and the like. Room service was prompt. The choice at breakfast was varied. The location remains a delight.

Putting aside how quiet it was the restaurant staff at breakfast need a good shake up (excluding the chef as ever was charming and helpful). The waiting staff were indifferent. Coffee and tea was lukewarm. Refills were not offered once without being requested and the staff were not much in evidence. They were slow clearing tables meaning cats jumped and ate of dirty plates and staff seemed to be permanently on their mobile phones. None of the attention I am so used to was apparent at all and I do not think can be excused by the general situation in Egypt.

The rooms were cleaned but not overly well and glasses were not replaced with clean glasses but just run under taps leaving them smeared. I am not used to being met by a cleaner telling me today was his last day just one day into a stay and obviously after a tip.

I do not go looking for fault and usually would overlook but in combination it implied a lside in standards.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a deluxe room with sea view. Avoid the road side if you don't.

We stayed at the Le Meridian for a week in November. Our room was on the beach front and was spacious with a good view of the ocean and sunset (although once inside you had to draw the heavy blackout curtains for privacy which was a shame – need lighter drapes in addition to the curtains so you can let some light in). The facilities in the room were good but wouldn’t call them luxurious. The Wi- Fi prices were really expensive and the service at times was intermittent. The hotel has a number of areas to sunbathe and swim but there were occasions where we found it difficult to find a sun bed – both by the pools and on the beach. The water sport hire shop beside Sails on the beach was great and the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly.

There are a number of places to eat at the hotel but to be honest the quality wasn’t great. Breakfast was fine with a selection of pastries, continental, and an egg station. One evening we ate at Vie which is an Asian restaurant. The food was not to our taste and we didn’t return throughout the trip. Sails beach bar was a nice place to sit and watch the world go by but once again the food was nothing special and the menu uninspiring. One evening we had a room service and the food was poor. The Hotel is a drive away from the restaurants and shops in Dahab and a taxi is required for all trips. The Hotel offers a shuttle service into Dahab but we found the timings inconvenient especially if you wanted to eat and shop and the concierge wasn’t particularly helpful. The hotel looked full during the day but in the evening the bar, restaurants and the reception area was empty and soulless. We took a long walk along the beach and came across a number of other hotels and must admit Le Meridian certainly looked the nicest and the most stylish and was happy we were staying there.

Most of the restaurants in Dahab offer the same cuisine (and they all seem to look the same). The ones we dined at were good but we like a variety throughout the week. We found an excellent Thai restaurant called Blue House which was always busy and the food was excellent. We also ate at Chillax which was a very tasty burger and delicious desserts.

All in all a decent place to stay for a week.

Room Tip: The rooms on the beach front are quite a walk away from the reception and restaurants and involve qu...

Le Meridien was five stars across the board. The entire hotel has a spectacular view of the Red Sea. Rooms are spread are all on one level with outside entrances giving guests both quiet and seclusion. Food was excellent as was the service. They went above and beyond to meet our every request.

The on site scuba shop Poseiden was also excellent and a 30 second walk from our room.

Le Meridien provided great facilities and a truly relaxing environment at a great value.

I stayed at le Meridien for one week. Even though it was very few people staying at the hotel because of low season, was everything open. I did a lot of dives with the dive club at the hotel called Poseidon divers. This dive club was great, good dive sites and very friendly guides. Only negative thing about the hotel was the restaurants. I would advice everyone to eat in Dahab Senter and not at the hotel restaurants, because the hotel had expensive food that wasn't all that good, but the hotel makes it easy for you to go into the town with a free shuttle buss that goes 3 times every day.
All in all, I would recommend this hotel above other hotels in Dahab.

We stayed here for a week in January 2012. We were looking for a relaxing week at some winter sun and were very pleased with the hotel. The staff were friendly but not overbearing, happy to help book trips and taxis (with much safer drivers than those booked in town/via our flight transfer). We took a trip to the blue hole for snorkelling - definitely worth the trip out and also did an overnight trip to Mount Sinai (v cold but rewarding). The breakfast buffet was of a much higher standard than you would usually expect in a large hotel. We only had the dinner buffet once which was nice enough but expensive compared to the local restaurants.

The superior room was spotless, bed was very comfy, it was unbelievably quiet and complimentary water was supplied every day. We didn't get to compare the more expensive rooms and they are a little further from the pool/hotel (but literally only a few more metres!) so no obvious disadvantage.

As the hotel is a bit out of town (ten mins drive), the easiest way to get in was via a taxi booked from the hotel (30 Egyptian pounds), the hotel does provide a shuttle bus but the timings are set so that having lunch or dinner would be a bit rushed. But we always got the bus back in the evening at 10pm when Dahab seems to get very quiet.

Would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants a quiet relaxing week (though I am sure it gets busier as the peak season arrives), doesn't mind being out of town and wants to be slightly spoiled!
