I love Dahab and loved this hotel last time I stayed there. Most of what I said before goes but I think the owners need to get their act together and pop in for a visit. The positives - the pool staff were helpful, moving sun beds as needed and the like. Room service was prompt. The choice at breakfast was varied. The location remains a delight.
Putting aside how quiet it was the restaurant staff at breakfast need a good shake up (excluding the chef as ever was charming and helpful). The waiting staff were indifferent. Coffee and tea was lukewarm. Refills were not offered once without being requested and the staff were not much in evidence. They were slow clearing tables meaning cats jumped and ate of dirty plates and staff seemed to be permanently on their mobile phones. None of the attention I am so used to was apparent at all and I do not think can be excused by the general situation in Egypt.
The rooms were cleaned but not overly well and glasses were not replaced with clean glasses but just run under taps leaving them smeared. I am not used to being met by a cleaner telling me today was his last day just one day into a stay and obviously after a tip.
I do not go looking for fault and usually would overlook but in combination it implied a lside in standards.
