We spent a couple of nights in Old Tom's Mansion, right in the middle of the Old Cochin Fort, on Princes Street. It's an old building thats been done up rather well. We have really large bedroom and a massive bathroom. The rooms have high ceilings with a large fan in the bedroom. There is A/C but during December it's not necessary. There was plenty of cupboard space and oldy worldy shelves built into the wall. The whole ambient is old and well looked after. There were quite a few backpackers there and all foreigners, which was a bit noisy in the evening, but overall quiet and easy to sleep.
We looked out onto the inner courtyard which is quiet and warm with plenty of shade if wanted. Further back is a restaurant which gives a simple menu and breakfast was included in our deal. The staff were friendly and helpful and they have their own traditional Kerala massage room upstairs.
The entrance takes you onto Princes Street which is a bit of a tourist trap and traffic mainly from Tuktuk's looking for a fare which is great if you want to ge somewhere but irriating if you just want to walk around. Overall a nice place to stay and I can recommend it.
