I chose this hotel following a bad experience just up the road. The air conditioned rooms are moderately spacious and hot water is sometimes available (sometimes out of the cold tap too!).
The restaurant is good and if you are happy to eat Indian style, the daily breakfast is fine. Sometimes there is music in the evening.
Wifi reception is a bit variable.
You should try to negotiate the price down by at least 30%.
The main receptionist is very helpful but the younger one has only limited understanding of English which can lead to problems.
One strange thing. Though the rooms have regular tiled roofs, the upstairs 'corridors' are covered with galvanised iron roofs and if it rains in the night the noise is incredible.

Room Tip: Check out wifi reception if you can choose your room.

Fantastic location! Clean sheets and towels but dirty blankets. The rooms are very big and spacious with all the furniture you need. The floor was not very clean and the room (ground floor) smelled damp and mouldy. The water was hot and the wifi was good when in the courtyard. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This is a nice heritage building with a central courtyard and restaurant. My room was clean, spacious and overlooked the courtyard. There were ceiling fans and the window's had mosquito grills that can be opened to let in some air (they bang loudly in the breeze). The bathroom was small and clean but a bit smelly.
The management and staff were very pleasant and willing to help. There is a travel desk where we were given a free map of the town and advice on the best way to get to see the sights. There is well stocked book shop and they can also provide laundry services.
I had breakfast at the restaurant and it was good.
It's in a very good central location and close to a lot of the attractions of Kochi.

we booked 2 rooms at this property one on the ground floor and one on first floor .the rooms were big though but not comfortable at all ...both the rooms were stinking mujsty odors ...the only good thing is the location of the property as it is right in the middle of town in the princess street...so one could look for any other property nearby...even if you are somehow stucked at this property they also have taxis available we booked one and made our trip disastrous ..the drived though was nice but didnt had any knowledge about what tourist needs to see and to what place he should take us to see at kerala,, we went to munnar allepey cherai beach..everything he was concerned about was to get us a room booked from where he could get comission at the location..also owner of taxi at toms old mansion is a very cheap guy we told him we need taxi from 5th to 10 th october first he said he would charge for 500 km 18rs/km and rest at12rs/km on making the final bill he said he would charge 600 km at 18rs/km when he already knew we were booking for 6days he should have told us before that he would charge 600km at18/km ...money was still not the concern but the driver should have at least shown us whtare the attraction, tourist spots and munnar allepey ernakulam...keralan people are very soft spoken but very cheap and moneyminded...
