The Mool Sagar is a hidden gem - for people who love to indulge in beauty and history. My wife and I prolonged our stay because we fell in love with the place (and its people, especially with Poonam, who is the most friendly person one can imagine). For a couple of days we felt like being in a different time and world. The exquisite architecture of the buildings and the structure and layout of the gardens invite you to stroll around and get totally immersed in your "own indian fantasy". The tents are very tasteful decorated, the bathrooms lofty, the food is regional home-made and excellent, the stuff very attentive. (If you like to run in the morning - like I do - just step outside the Royal Camp and miles and miles of vast stony desert stretch before you.) Mool Sagar is definitely a place we will come back to.

i loved this desert camp - but dont go and expect a 5* hotel - you are staying in a tent in the rajasthani desert, there are insects, dust, animal noises at night and not a lot apart from desert - but its amazing and i loved because is wasnt just any other 5* hotel
the tents were lovely, spacious and clean, possibly the biggest beds in creation
the setting is a 300 year old royal picnik palace - where else can you stay some where this unique?!?!
the pool was a nice touch, but a little cool
the staff were amazingly attentive and friendly, from the manager who came to meet us personally to the waiter, poonam, who was my favourite person in all of india (admittedly i didnt meet them all tho)
it is a short car ride from jaisalmer
i think that normally there is a lot more to do at the camp - they can arrange desert safaris and stuff - but they were short staffed because of the maharajas sons wedding when we visited
there isnt much to do on an evening - but again it was quite quiet when we were there, i think there is more evening entertainment normally than when we were there
the food was great as well
all in all i really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again for longer

The staff is very attentive and they try very hard (i actually think they are too attentive), but if you are expecting something like the Oberoi's vanyavillas at Rathambore when you come here you will feel a little dissappointed. It is very much a tent, though they do have proper bathrooms (subject to a little problem with the hot water)

I don't know whether it is always so, but we found that you couldn't get hot water for a shower unless you rang first, and it isn't the case that you ring once. You ring each time you want it, and I found that they didn't necessarily understand me when i called, so i generally had to call a couple of times.

As is a tent I would be concerned about security of your possessions while you are out. We were the only guests whil we were there and I would be especially concerned if the resort was full.

Meals were a mixed bag. We had some nice breakfasts (the masala omelate is very good), and the indian food was ok, albeit mild, but :
1. you don't get a menu, or indeed any choice- food is served to you
2. the second night we were there we got a fairly odd assortment of dishes (including macaroni cheese, fish, pasta etc), along with some indian ones and frankly it wasn't very nice and i felt a little unwell after
3. when i asked for a wine list i was asked whether i wanted red or white and a single bottle was produced. it was fairly ordinary and i was surprised when we checked out that it was relatively expensive

To be fair, there isn't a 5 star hotel in the area, and this may be the best there is.

Our first night in Jaisalmer was unfortunately spent at the Fort Rajwada. (Don’t bother; all of the negative reviews are accurate) Our second night was spent at this magical place.
Don’t let the word camp fool you; this is a beautiful hotel with a unique experience. The “camp” is located about 8 km outside of town. When you arrive you feel as if you have arrived to a magical oasis and are escorted through beautiful gardens to your “tent”. The tents are beautifully appointed rooms in a tent with full baths. You feel like you are in your boyhood dream of sleeping in a tent in the desert.

The staff is very attentive and will cater to your every whim. We were there a few months after the camp opened so we were the only guests. We had a staff of 10 falling over us. The food was excellent. In the evening they prepared on opulent and tasty 7-course meal for us. After dinner we retreated to the top of one of the terraces layered with pillows and watched the stars and moon for hours. We had a 5 am departure and since we were the only guests the staff had a full breakfast buffet prepared to the two of us at 4:30am!
This was perhaps one of the most magical experiences we had in India. Words cannot begin to describe how great it was here.
Information seems to be a bit difficult to come by about the camp.(if you want more details go to google India and enter mool sagar camp Jaisalmer)
