The Bharat Kala Bhawan is in Banaras Hindu University campus which can be visited in office hours. This Museum is basically an Archaeological Museum where you can get a complete picture of the History, Culture and Archaeology of the Gangetic region and particularly the mystic city of Varanasi. The gallery are thematically arranged. The Nidhi gallery is open only at 12.00 pm to 04.00 pm. This gallery is having display of some precious and rare objects of medieval times with some mughal object. Rest gallery is open till 05.00 pm from 10.00 am. This is a ticketed museum but of minimal charges. If you are visiting to Varanasi, visit to the museum will be worthwhile. Minimum 2 hrs will be sufficient to a layman. New Vishwanath Mandir is just less than a kilometer on same road.

Bharat kala bhawan is located in Banaras Hindu university. It's a great pleasure to visit this museum as it has a number of ancestral weapons which were used by raja and maharajahs. Many old silver and gold coins are kept there. It is very good in terms of educational trip for school students.

It's a very good museum within BHU. Spread over 2 floors, would tale at least couple of hours to see, even for a casual visitor,

This was an unexpected pleasure to visit. There is an excellent collection of sculpture and a truly exceptional display representing many schools of Indian miniature painting.
Had we had more time, we would have liked to see more of the beautiful university campus and I would have returned to study the paintings further - so many! so beautiful! so tiny!

Visited bhart kala bhavan during recent visit to national cultural festival at BHU. Great platform for artists to perform. Thanx to BHU who has given a big platform for such events and artists. It was great to visit historic Bharat kala Bhavan and see events happening there well maintained. Best of luck BHU for the future.
