Tanaya is a simple no-frills Bed and Breakfast situated right in the heart of Legian (just down the road from bustling and rowdy Kuta). Booked this place because of the affordable rooms, central location and we wanted a simple triple room #16 for 3 of us (my husband and I plus a friend) to just bunk in at night comfortably.
PROS
- Good central location (especially good for first-timers who want to roam around a little to shop and to ask for tours and stuff like that)
- 24hr convenience store just across the one-way one-lane Jalan Legian road
- Comfortable bed
- Fresh sheets and towels every day (toilet paper is nice and soft to use)
- New bottles of water for each guest every day (complimentary!)
- Clean!
- Good and friendly English-speaking service staff
- Simple continental breakfast consisting of bread/sandwich/pastries, fruits, coffee/tea and a choice of apple, guava or orange juice
- Airport transfer at US$10 per car
- Fast replies to email (this is important to me, at least)
- Free and fast Wi-Fi access at the lobby and breakfast area on the roof, facing the street that is always filled with vehicles (there's a nice PC at the lobby)
CONS
- Triple room had an open-concept for the bathroom:
Bathroom and toilet cubicles with frosted glass doors (which can be inconvenient for friends staying together!) so we can hear everything the person is doing...Tanaya is a simple no-frills Bed and Breakfast situated right in the heart of Legian (just down the road from bustling and rowdy Kuta). - Triple room had an open-concept for the bathroom:
Bathroom and toilet cubicles with frosted glass doors (which can be inconvenient for friends staying together!) so we can hear everything the person is doing inside
- Thin door that does not have the dampener so that the door can shut quietly instead of it going BANG. Could hear people in the corridor talking and slamming their doors although it's the corner unit.
- The toilet flush is a little weak
- Skylight roof (made of glass I think) is a little rusty and leaky, and when it rains heavily the sound can be rather loud

All in all, we did enjoy our stay at Tanaya Bed & Breakfast and would highly recommend it to folks who want to stay near the action and the shops in a comfortable and affordable place!More
