...if you are in Ubud, I recommend staying as far outside of town as possible. My wife and I stayed in Ubud in early May 2012. We heard from everyone who know who had visited Bali that Ubud is a must see. Well, perhaps before Eat, Pray, Love was written, yes, but now, no. It was a regular tourist trap. So many shops full of stuff we didn't need or want, the old way of negotiating price was replaced with "fixed price." The Sacred Monkey Garden was a bust -- got bitten by a monkey. However, the bright side was Beji Ubud -- friendly service, great pools, enormous room, perfect proximity to the rice fields. You must take a wander in the rice fields, skip the town and enjoy this instead. One other bright point to Ubud, the food in town is excellent. I recommend Naughty Nuri's, Warang Simple and Ibu Oka Babi Guling -- delicious!

i thought the hotel looked nice on the net when booking, in reality it is even better!
The young staff and owners are amazingly friendly, Balinese people at their best!
The accommodation is very good, lovely tropical garden settings with 5 infinity pools to choose from, gorgeous views across the forested ravine with river below, all from the open restaurant. nothing is too much trouble, lovely reception staff advised and booked some amazing shows for me in the temples, they booked whitewater rafting (spectacular) escorted mountainbiking which ended in the elephant sactuary ( DO NOT MISS) always use Bali Adventure tours!
The hotel is a little out of the centre but that is perfect to get tranquility, and its only a 5 min taxi (50,000rp or usually less with haggling) or free hotel shuttle, to the village centre. if you walk you go past "Norti Nuri's" Warung eatery ( reccommended in Lonely Plkanet) the ribs are to die for, watch the price of Drinks - along the road 2 mins is Bali Botanica, world class spa-- the massage omg! 150000rp amzing.
If you stay in Ubud, i don't think you can do better for the money than Beji, truly.

Room Tip: First st of courtyard rooms after the main pool are fab.

My husband & I stayed 3 nights with our children (9 & 5) in a family villa. I can't say enough about how perfect it was to stay here. We had a small infinity pool right outside our villa (1 of 5) and the main pool had a diving board of sorts to keep the kids happy (even the big kids). The views & serenity of the location were undoubtedly the main attribute with staff friendliness & service hot on it's heels. There is a free shuttle into the main hub of Ubud, however there are also nice restaurants & galleries within walking distance of the resort.
There was no street noise as it is set back from the main road, which is a nice reprieve after the hustle & bustle of Legian & Kuta.
If I were to have one small criticism it would be that the kids room had a separate external door where I would have preferred them to connect directly to ours.
Breakfast is included on the room price which was ordered off a menu rather than buffet style. communication was not a problem for us as most staff were fluent in English.
Overall a beautiful, clean & well maintained resort perfect for people wanting a peaceful & relaxing getaway.

Stayed here for a few nights in a standardroom. Our room was situated in the back-part of the resort, with no special view but a pool right in front of the room. The room was large with high ceilings, huge bed, tv, coffee/teamakingfacilities, and minibar. Few lamps however, so almost impossible to read when it's dark. Waterpressure in the shower was ok but watertemperature impossible to keep steady.
The resort is very nice with great views from the lowerpool and restaurant. Breakfast is included with lots of choices but very sweet lemonade instead of fruit juice.
Wifi only works in the reception area, in there there's also a computer for guests to use.
In the room there's no information or whatsoever about activities, spa, restaurants or whatever but there is a brochure at the reception. Staff is very helpful but doesn't speak English that well.
Three times a day there is a free shuttle to the center of Ubud that drops you anywhere you like upon request like the Monkey Forest. It's too far to make it a pleasant walk to the citycenter. Nearby are some restaurants, spa, shops and the famous artmuseum.
Upon checkout we were confronted with the fact that paying by creditcard meant an extra charge of 3%, this was not noted in our reservation . Staff was suprised that this was new for us, but this was the only hotel in all of our Bali-accomodation where this was the case.
We had a pleasant stay but when going back to Ubud I would look for a more central location.

My husband and I stayed 5 nights in a huge spotlessly clean room with glorious views.
The room was a little better for wear with a tricky hand held shower. There was a pool (1of 5) right below our balcony, which for all intents and purposes was our own.The grounds were immaculately kept and the staff were all extremely helpful. Owners were also on site to oversee the smooth running of this lovely peaceful hotel.
Breakfast menu was very good but unfortunately in this day and age instant coffee was not acceptable. The food at lunch and dinner in the restaurant was acceptable but not very imaginative but the staff were so eager to please they even baked me a special surprise birthday cake -how lovely was that?
There are lots of cafes and shops close by and nice walks and we were not far from the center of Ubud.
We will be back and I can definitely recommend this hotel

Room Tip: lower rooms have better views. They are building 2 new units lower down and these no doubt they will...
