This was a highlight of my trip. It was so much better than I expected. The class was well organized and the instructor was so fun and pleasant. The ingredients were fresh and the food was delicious! I'm leaving Bali with a few new recipes that I can't wait to try back home.

Thank Mandy C

Got picked up at the accommodation, and we started with a visit to the market. Got more information about the ingredients, but also about Balinees traditions and customs. Then we were off to the cooking class. That's where we were introduced to our chef, Ketut. He's an entertaining person that knows his way around the kitchen very well. He explains, chops, jokes ... all at the same time, who said men can't multi task? :)
We prepared 3 different basic sauces (Bumbu Bali, peanut sauce and sambal Ulek), fried chicken, steamed fish, chicken saté, mie goreng, chicken soup and a banana desert. First of all Ketut explained every ingredient we would use today, we got to smell, taste, ask questions. After that we chopped up all the spices, herbs and vegetables we would need for the preparations, everyone did their share, which made it go quickly. We had guidance and help if needed with every step. Ketut is surrounded by a good team of helpers, which makes everything run really smoothly. After cooking it was time to enjoy and eat. You can take home whatever you can't finish on the spot and you get a copy of all the recipes. Enjoyable half day activity!

Note: I didn't get dropped off at my accommodation as agreed on, cause the driver didn't feel like doing 2 stops. After asking nicely a few time, I just gave up. I had the feeling it was because I'm a young solo traveler, it happend to me a few times before. It's just a detail and it was only a short walk, but maybe confirm your stop again before leaving.

This program was wonderful! the transfer picked us up in the hotel and we met our happy Budha-like chef, Ketut in Ubud Center, at the market.
He quickly walked through the market with us, talked about the different ingredients, we even could taste some of them.
After the market we left Ubud and arrived to the kitchen in the middle of the nature (rice fields, palm trees, vegetable gardens around us), where the class started.
The chef explained how the ingredients work then we cooked a soup, two main dishes plus fried noodles and desserts.
After cooking we could sit down and the group had a wonderful lunch while strangers get to know each other a bit. Five-star service :)

This cooking class was amazing. Our driver had recommended this place and booked it for us, we didn't know what to expect. It was incredible! It was fun to cook everything and it all tasted amazing! It was at least half the price as others and we also saw the vegetable market, rice paddies, and a typical Indonesian style home. The two brothers who run this place are so kind and we could not have had a better experience!
