We booked the Payogan for our honeymoon for the first few nights of our trip to Bali-we were swung by the private pool and how beautiful the hotel looked.
Upon arrival we weren’t disappointed - the resort itself is absolutely stunning and the private villas are huge and exactly as advertised.
Sadly there were a few things which didn’t quite live up to the hype. On arriving fairly late we ordered room service and unfortunately the food was the worst we had in Bali. The breakfast buffet was quite basic and whilst the staff were incredibly sweet they were almost too attentive-even when we told them we were fine making our own toast they wouldn’t let you lift a finger which was a bit uncomfortable.
Probably due to the volcano but the hotel was also empty-this meant the restaurant was empty every night and when we went to have a drink at the bar one evening it was closed at 7pm-we had 4 nights there and didn’t see it open once!
Negatives aside there are some huge positives about the Payogan. As mentioned the hotel and the rooms are stunning and the taxi services they offer are excellent-the drivers are SO helpful and arranged pick ups for us every night as well as taking us on a guided tour of Ubud one day. Overall it’s a good hotel-it just needs a little polishing to be a great one!More
