Stayed here for 3 nights for a short getaway with my girlfriend, resort is still quite new and hidden away which is exactly what we wanted as its really quiet during off peak season. We came at night and was greeted by a guy who doesn't smile and talk like a robot, not a very nice welcome. There is no bellboy so expect to take your luggage yourself unless they are very free, the building is only 3 storey high so not an issue for us. Welcome drink was syrup water which is extremely sweet..There is no issue with meeting the representative at the ferry terminal and everything was arrange smoothly, journey is around 1 hour from tanjung pinang ferry terminal. Edwin the guy who keep replying to guest here in TA was in the car with us but he didn't talk or smile so I presume he is there just to hitch a ride to argo beach resort.
Lobby- Hotel lobby is open air which is great, you can see the open sea and feel the sea breeze on a windy day. Lots of seating around so not an issue if you need to wait for your room, the restaurant D'Wave is located right beside the reception and serve simple food menu. I am not sure whether there is a money changer but I know they have 1 at their sister resort Bintan Argo. Swimming pool is right infront...Stayed here for 3 nights for a short getaway with my girlfriend, resort is still quite new and hidden away which is exactly what we wanted as its really quiet during off peak season. I am not sure whether there is a money changer but I know they have 1 at their sister resort Bintan Argo. Swimming pool is right infront of the hotel and its quite decent, 1.2m deep so no worries for parents with kids. My only complaint is there is not really enough sun lounges at the swimming pool area, maybe they should consider putting some at the beach.
Hotel/Restaurant- There is nothing nearby, its a totally deserted area so you can only eat inside the hotel with really little variety of food or head to their sister resort which they provide free shuttle every 2 hours..I was quite surprise they only serve fried rice and mee goreng for local food...I was hoping for ayam penyet or nasi goreng etc..Breakfast is good enough as they make the effort to change some food everyday, simple with 3-4 main dish, congee, cereal, 2 fruit juice, no cappuccino or latte just normal coffee and tea like the one in Macdonald, egg station and 1 live food station which serve mee soto on first day and roti prata on another day. They actually claim they are a 4 star resort but no cappuccino or latte which is laughable to be honest..
Service is almost non-existent, nobody asked us whether we will like some coffee or water on our 3 nights stay, they just stand there and chat. Its like breakfast in Holiday Inn Express which their concept is DIY...On our departure day though service suddenly became really good, they called us and remind us about breakfast because we are the last couple in the entire resort whom hadn't appear at their breakfast so its a nice touch, they suddenly brought us coffee and the chef brought us omelette and mee soto which we didn't ask for, I know they are closing but it kind of shocked both of us..Beach is really nice to walk, sand is quite soft and water is really clear. They made the effort to clean the beach really early in the morning, really great job! By the way their rooftop bar is not ready, I remember their facebook claims that it is ready but it is not...
Room- Room is decent enough but the housekeeping never clean the jacuzzi at all which is such a waste since it face the open sea..It was so dirty that my girlfriend refuse to enter it..Infact they never really clean the balcony area, it was filled with litter and the sun lounges was extremely dirty, they do not provide any towel for the lounge, you have to get pool towel from the lobby...They only provide 2 bathing towel and 1 hand towel thats it, no bath robe which is stupid since I book a room with jacuzzi?? There is only 2 coffee cup no glass or wine glass for drinking, you have to request it..Your bathroom will be filled with insect as there is a toilet window that is half open above our sink..no idea why since they have ventilation in the bathroom itself..Bed is comfortable and the air con is strong enough, they reuse some table from Argo Beach Resort and use it for the one beside your bed, how do I know? Well there is rotten paper and letter which write Argo Beach Resort inside the drawer from the table..not good..no chairs, desk or sofa inside the room so you can't use your laptop anywhere except the balcony. Mini fridge which is empty, we don't mind since we can store drinks ourself inside but booking website claim they have mini bar lol TV is big with decent channel but you won't watch TV anyway with that view right outside your windows.
Love the fact they have huge windows opening right outside to the beautiful sea view, its nice to wake up to that view every morning! There is no details or anything about the resort, just a room service menu and a card writing the price if you want to purchase things like blanket etc...They seem to be really afraid of people taking things home which might explain why you have to ask for simple item like glass or towel etc yourself...Rain forest shower was not working and I told the same guy that check me in he just nodded and kept quiet, perfect..I fix it myself by removing the button...Oh by the way you have to pay 10k rupiah for a small bucket of ice...a 4 star Resort? Hmm...Wifi only last 1 day and only for 1 device so we have to head down for a new code everyday on our 3 nights stay..Speed is decent enough to stream video but expect it to be slower during afternoon.
One bad thing about the resort is there seems to be ants and flies EVERYWHERE, you drop just 1 small crump of rice and you see ants swarming it in seconds...there is alot of cracks in the tiles and wall where they live...If they want to say that you are in a forest area then I am sorry, I stayed in a jungle in bali and I did not see a single insect inside my villa for an entire week...Service is also on and off, most of the staff are really friendly but there are some who just won't smile even thou I smile to them like an idiot, room service from my neighbors were not cleared for 2 nights even after they check out, its swarming with ants and flies and the whole corridor was filled with bad odour...Which is why I went down and ask them to packet my food instead of ordering room service...
Food price is decent but some prices just don't made sense, Bintan Fried Rice is 40k rupiah which is really cheap although theres not alot of ingredient inside but we ordered fries 1 night and it cost 40k rupiah as well for just a small plate...Shuttle timing to Bintan Argo seems werid, I saw alot of people from the resort heading there to eat at their famous Sun Moon restaurant, but the next shuttle timing back is only 1hour45min otherwise you have to wait for 3 hours...the journey there will take 5-10 minutes and you have to walk to the restaurant, you must either really finish your food fast or they are hoping you spend more money there while you wait longer...alot of guest from bintan pearl are stuck for around 1 1/2-2 hours after having our meal since its impossible to get on the next shuttle so early..Nice trick thou..You can spend some time in the minimart/gift shop while you wait for the shuttle back, prices are of course inflated but water is cheap:) All in all, this resort will be great maybe once they officially open? For now just don't expect high standard, relax and enjoy the really nice view and you will be fine..I paid around 150usd for 1 night on peak season and I don't think it is worth it at all since i have to DIY most of the things myself in a supposedly 4 star resort...some of the review here are by bloggers which might explain the high positive review...More
