Let’s get the good news out of the way.

1. It’s convenient for BEXCO exhibition centre
2. The bed was comfortable

The bad
1. Outdated dark and dingy decor. Added a long narrow room with a wardrobe in the middle and you have not a room but a crypt
2. AC that at best worked intermittently. But its crowning achievement - turning on at 28 degrees in the middle of the night so you wake up in a puddle of sweat
3. Kamikaze shower/bath with slippery step designed to give a evens chance of falling in any given stay.
4. No bottle opener. What hotel room has no bottle opener?
5. Elevators. Want to get to the lobby from the 14th floor? Allow at least 10 minutes. Nonsensical call buttons and random going up when the arrow points down.
6. A lobby which looks like a shopping mall.
7. Corridors with a similar dungeon like feel to the rooms but with the added benefit of no fresh air and a stale smell.
8. No chair to sit as the desk just a bouncy stool which was too low to sit at for more than 10 minutes at a stretch.

But the absolute worst thing about this establishment is breakfast. Cold cooked food; get your own cutlery; no coffee cups; no orange juice; a toaster than doesn’t toast; croissants and pastries which were fresh - 3 days ago. This is without doubt THE WORST BREAKFAST I have ever had in a hotel of any standard. Even if it was cheap, it would be bad but it isn’t cheap.

I will never step foot in this hotel again.

There’s nothing good about this hotel except that it is near BEXCO which is where I need to be for the exhibition. The room is dated, window faces next building’s wall, bathroom smelled musky, air-con is not working, reception is rude during check-in, concierge is unhelpful, bed has springs poking up. Also you need to pay to use the gym and they have a kitchenette in the room but tell you that it cannot be used. All in all, a “not recommended” place unless you really need to be near the exhibition center like I did. Otherwise, there are much better hotels in Busan.

Staying for 5 days and 4 nights for a business trip and it was a very convenient stay. I didnt have much time to spend at the hotel, but the location wise, it is great. This hotel is located close to Bexco (only 5 mins walk), Shinsegae Mall (5 mins walk) and Busan International Film Festival Hall (10-15 minutes walk). So the overall impression of the hotel was actually great.

The hotel room was very spacious, it is a semi apartment I guess, I had my own kitchen and living room. Having an extra bed is still possible too, 2 friends joined me during the stay with an extra bed and we still had an extra space in the room.

So if you are traveling with group or family, you may consider staying here.

We stayed at this hotel because my husband was attending a fair at Bexco. The room is very dated. The bathroom is just ok. Bed and bedding were comfortable but the comforter made it too hot! Turning on the AC was not an option since it is only set to cool until the end of September. It was very hard to sleep in the hot stuffy room even with the windows open.
But that wasn’t the last disappointment. Never in my life have I ever seen such a poor breakfast. Besides the korean staples, there isn’t much. Two kinds of fruit carelessly chopped and thrown on platters, no cheese, no ham, no rolls, no different kinds of bread. Just empty bread boxes. And if the only option you have is sandwich bread, shouldn’t you at least have more than one four-slot toaster? People had to stand in line waiting to toast their bread. To top it off, when we returned to the room, the card wouldn’t open the door. I had to call the front desk twice requesting that somebody come to open the room and ended up chasing the cleaning lady around the floor so she could help us.
Would you return to a place like this?
We certainly will not.

Thank you for choosing the Haeundae Centum Hotel and taking the time to write about your experience during your stay.

Firstly, I recognize that our air conditioning system is not suitable to satisfy many guests from each other environment and think seriously. We will consider about this problem with head office to make better. And we will tell to restaurant to improve breakfast menu for guest who from the different cultures.

I sincerely apologize for not being able to make an immediate response when your door was not opened. We should be more attention to someone in the unexpected situation like this.

The hotel is very close to major malls like Lotte mall and and the gigantic Shinsegae. All within 5 mins walk. The subway is also a step away. There is a Starbuck Cafe downstairs and restaurants around. So I would give a 5 for location.

However the hotel seems to have been around for a long time. Interior though sufficient and clean is rather dated. The air-conditioning is a big surprise for us coming from Asia. We turned on the aircon to find hot air bellowing out, no matter how low we set the temp to be. We were told that the air conditioning temp is preset. From Oct to Apr, it is hot air for autumn and winter. And cool air only for the other half a year. As it was early autumn in Oct, the hot air was too much for us. We were told to leave the windows opened to let in the cool air. So in the night, the winds from outside caused doors and windows to creak and move, disturbing our sleep.

The ensuite bathroom was also poorly designed. When taking shower in the bath tub, the water would splashed out of the tub and overflow to the floor. Not good for adults. We had to kneel or sit down and take care not to let water out of tub.

The other issue which led us to give a lower rating was 1 particular staff on our last night of stay. We have been asking the hotel to bring more bottled water for us, and they usually bring promptly. On our last night, as we packed late into the night, I reminded my husband to request as we had to leave at 5 am for the airport. This time, the person answering said they need to charge us 2500 won for each bottle of water. We were fabergasted. My husband asked them why do they charge now when they have not been charging before. Was it because it was too late and they didn't want to send anyone? In the end, we did not insist. My husband went downstairs to the 24 hour convenience to purchase instead.

It is sad that our stay was ruined because of 1 person and inconsistent practice. All the hotels, and even hanok home stays and pension houses, which we paid a lot lower room rates, gave us water without complaint or price. Our hanok home stay host in Jeonju even showed us the store and tell us to just help ourselves. To have a hotel asking us to pay for drinking water is both frustrating and insulting.

Dear valued guest,

Thank you for choosing the Haeundae Centum Hotel and taking the time to write about your experience during your stay.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've been our hotel.
I know that this is not enough with only a few sentences.

We are in the progress of renovating our rooms and facilities, so if you'd give us another chance of your next trip to Busan, our hotel should be more up to your standard.

We offered the water with free of charge before, but we had to change part of our operation policy, to offer the accommodation with more reasonable rate, and it is also not used to our staffs. Perhaps it was happened cause of our staff's old habits. Sometimes our service mind of make guest happy is in confrontation with our policies. But we always try to make our guest satisfied.

Please generously forgive us that made you feel uncomfortable.
Your words mean a great deal to our hotel and staff, and we'll do our best in providing the best service and comfort.
