The Monarch Plaza Hotel in Taoyuan City is about a 25-minute ride from the airport. Good buffet breakfast, and the staff is friendly & very helpful, most especially Susan, the chief receptionist... MANY thanks, Susan!

Had a overnight stopover on the way to NYC and this hotel was provided by Eva Air( wish they could have chosen a better hotel). It is around 20 minutes from the airport since it was night time and a Sunday. The room was clean, service so so , the bed and pillows too soft for a good night sleep.Breakfast choice of dishes not on a international being that Eva air provides the hotel,Would rate it 4 out of 10......

They organized my pick up at the airport. It was OK even if we met by luck (I was going around to find anyone with my name and this guy was just arriving and reading the page with my name.. I as late in arrival). Lobby not so large, but people very warm and helpful. They upgrades me free and the room was have a small entrance and a very large bedroom.
First of all, only one free power plug for the whole room. This is a real issue for business travellers. Wifi is strong.in overall is clean. Restaurant I didn't check as it close at 9pm ad I was late by few minutes. Room service is something to check. I called for a simple Caesar salad and it took me few minutes to understand what she was telling me: wasn't English but a mix of Chinese and English. Very disappointed I drop the call, cool down and went at the guest service at the reception where people speaks better English and ask for help. Finally arrived but after one our from the time I was doing the first call.

So things to fix are the availability of power plugs (never seen so poor availability in so many years of intense travelling around the world) and have better English speaking people at phone service to be able to serve not only Chinese people.

one of 6 different "5-star" hotels we stayed within 2 weeks in Taiwan. The Monarch Plaza was the weakest of the bunch.

the public areas are fine... the inlay stone floor on the ground floor is some of the most exquisite we've seen.

the breakfast buffet left a little to be desired.
the rooms were slightly outdated.

the staff were accommodating but not quite polished.

location is OK. one medium size night market near by.

Frankly I dont know where this hotel location is located. As I used the package tour and arrived & moved by big bus, I have no idea for it. But the facility & the room condition was great. Breakfast was nice & bath tub was great to have warm shower.
OK the convinent store is just right in front of the hotel and big park. Enviroment was great. I loved to stay here.
