We first visited Bow Thai a couple of years ago when it was next to the Regent. We had some lovely meals there and great service. So when we were staying at the Novotel a couple of weeks ago we thought we would go to their new restaurant, the Lady (owner)was as lovely as ever but she was on her own, as others have said the wait for 'everything' got a bit tedious towards the end!
Bless her though she keeps smiling! we had to ask for plates, cutlery, beer!
With the added competition I really think she needs to up her game.
There used to be a man helping, not sure whether it is her brother or husband? but he was very good 'front of house' I wouldn't like to see this place struggle but the 'happy lady' definitely needs help!
By the way, the food was very good!

The food was ok, service was very slow, not only that but the staff seemed to disappear for long periods of time... unfortunately won't be going back.

Restaurant has moved to the other end of the village from where it was. Still warm and welcoming with good food.

We waited for our food for over thirty mins. It's a small place so there's propably just one cook.
We had the spring rolls (very tasty), garlic bread (worst so far, dry and tasteless), broad rice noodles with chicken (tasty, but could have had some more flavours), Tom yam with chicken (tasty), spagetti bolognese (surprisingly tasty!) and spagetti carbonara (naah..).
Prices were not that cheap. Yesterday we ate a lit more for half the price in Hua Hin.
Would visit again, if the food wouldn't take so long.

Having just spent three weeks in the village of Bang Kwai, we tried all the restaurants in the village at some point or another including Bow Thai. In honesty, you will find it difficult to get a bad meal anywhere in the village, but some are better than others. This restaurant was pretty good and I had a decent Penang curry and certainly couldn't fault the price. My wife had a chicken cashew nuts with rice and again she said it was ok, but she had had better. Staff were pleasant enough and service was reasonable. My red wine was not the best I had in the village, but it was palatable.
