Stayed here for 3 nights mid October. Not having visited Hua Hin before I had no real idea where the hotel was in relation to sites, restaurants etc. Turns out the hotel is both excellently placed for the night market and also a short walk to the sea front and many bars and restaurants. Although hotel is on a main road never had any issues with traffic noise

Plus points bar the location, good size room, comfortable bed, clean, well furnished, nice rooftop pool with view over Hua Hin, friendly staff

Minor issues, shower not powerful and not much hot water, breakfast okay but not much choice

Overall however taking into account the facilities and location, an excellent value hotel and I would certainly consider it again if in Hua Hin

my partner and i stayed here for 5days whilst travelling around. we chose it because it was a good price for a thai hotel with character rather than a souless western hotel eg Hilton. we had a standard room on the 6th floor with fantastic views of Hua hin and the coast- great for watching Thai life going on. ok the balcony is really only a standing space but the windows are huge. the bed was v comfy- not a hard thai mattress. the rooms were faultless with great rainshower walk in shower and free toiletries. the staff were lovely and very helpful, their english was not great but hey my Thai is useless! i do agree with the breakfast comments this is where the hotel falls down. however we always had the thai options of congee or rice with some fresh fruit and were always full. proper coffee and some thai tea options would be good. we loved the pool area on the roof, we would go up there in the evening (its open until 8.30ish) and have the whole place to ourselves. fantastic infinity pool with a jacuzzi with views right over the city and the coast line. ok the pool is small etc but this is not a resort, it is a city hotel so a pool to take a dip in is an added bonus. the hotel had parking for scooters and a few cars and they arranged a taxi to BKK for us. i want to up this little hotel for it's thai character and the sweet staff who were always so friendly. the bell boy was adorable!! for a central location for a good price you can't go wrong.

Room Tip: go for top floor levels for fantastic views

It’s a new and nicely decorated hotel, with confortable beds, but that’s all… bellow are my bad experiences here:
- Airport transfer: didn’t receive a final confirmation after my reply to their email. On arrival, after a lot of calls (busy line, language barrier) and hustle, we finally allocated the driver (luckily a nice van for 2700 baths);
- Location: in a poor area, surrounded by old houses (without any decent restaurant around since they are all located near Hilton Hotel along with the bars – 15-20 min. walk). 10 min. walk to night market, but then, how to enjoy the rest of the day? By the swimming pool? Keep on reading...;
- No air-cond. in the lobby or corridors - heat + mosquitos...
- No restaurant in the hotel! There was a heavy rain followed by flood, after walking on the broken pavements with water up to my legs, we arrived the hotel and was starving! But couldn’t expect anything, since no food is served in the hotel (except the bkf) and had to wait until the water level lowered to walk to the 711 which is opposite the hotel (only convenience);
- Breakfast: until 10am and it’s boring: sunny side egg, mini sausages, bacon, 1 type of bread, 2 cereals – everyday! The Thai bkf varies a bit, but it was 9am one day and the sausages and fried rice was gone, when I asked for refill I was DENIED! Then when a Thai speaking lady asked, she got the fried rice! The food was cold (couldn't bother to keep it warm). Only instant coffee self-served!
- Pool: way too small and the pool bar (one of the reason we chose this hotel) only opens during high season (December). Only 8 sunbeds without umbrella and should you need anything – such as to turn on the Jacuzzi or to catch the many spiders swimming on the water (8-9!!), you have to go to the lobby downstairs to ask for assistance;
- Mini balcony on each room (maximum 2 persons standing) and the temperature of the water from the shower was uncontrollable – it is affected everytime your neighbor uses the water!
- Bad wifi in the bedroom - so again, go to the lobby to use their computer while feeding the mosquitoes...

I’ve been to Thailand many times and with the price we paid, we could have found a much better hotel there!

Room Tip: Go to Monkey Beach! It was there where I finally felt relaxed with good view, restaurant, food and service - oh and good shopping too! : )

Well, I don’t even know where to start… besides, with all respect to different opinions, I just can’t understand or agree with some of the reviews I’ve seen here!
I can resume in few words what I liked from Chalelarn Hotel: good bed, friendly staff and near night market! That’s it!!!
Things I didn’t like…:
1. Breakfast – first of all it’s the serving time! They’re supposed to serve breakfast until 10am, however at 9am the food is gone and they don’t add any, even after asked to! Except fried eggs, they do add! They serve one type of bread, fried eggs, bacon and sausage. One type of cereal and milk (didn’t try, so can’t give an opinion about milk). These are the dishes that never change. You have pineapple and watermelon too. Once in a week I had fried rice and vegetables. The other 2 dishes were soooooooo sweet that should be added to the deserts section (not edible anyway). There is no coffee machine or anyone serving coffee! The coffee it’s there (I guess Nescafe) and you make your own coffee. But the juices… well, let’s just say, I preferred water!
2. Rooms (I stayed at a room with partial view at 6th floor) - what you see in the website is what you get, which supposed to be good, as the rooms pics are nice, right? Well… rooms are cozy… but you must know that in each floor there is only one room with two single beds (as we were told when arrived)! So, if you are a group of friends, be aware that you must share a bed! When I booked the 2 rooms requesting single beds, they only told us that is upon availability… that’s cheating! “upon availability” means “we have it but we can only give you if it’s not occupied!” But they don’t have it, at least not on the same floor, which doesn’t make sense if you’re a group! The balcony is so small that is enough for 2 or 3 people to stand up, so forget about relaxing on the balcony, let alone get some sun there… The view: it’s true that you can see the ocean far away, but the first view you have from the room is old houses and not nice ones! Noise: you can have a good sleep on a good bed on weekdays, since they have cars with microphones announcing the Thai boxing fight on weekends and it’s pretty annoying!
3. Pool: simply toooooooooo small! I’m sure the pool won’t be enough for ¼ of the guests if hotel is fully booked! They only have 8 sun beds with NO umbrella and no space to even put a towel on the floor! Some spiders swimming along too! Oh… let’s not forget about the pool bar! You should know that the pool bar only functions on high season (as they said)! July is not high season… You have no one serving drinks or food! So, you must interrupt swimming to get out from the hotel to have lunch because they don’t even have 1 restaurant in the hotel!!! That means no room service too…
4. Location – that’s tricky! Yes, you have 7/11 right across the street, which is very convenient! And yes, night market is only 10-15 minutes walking from the hotel! Night market is where you do the shopping but is only 2 long streets that you can see all in 1 or 2 nights! I say nights because is open from 6pm to 11pm! If you’ve seen it all and don’t want to go back to night market, all you’ve got to do at night is go to bars, which are concentrated near Hilton Hotel and NOT Chalelarn Hotel!!! Restaurants are ALL near Hilton too!!!
5. Internet – there are 2 computers in the lobby and it’s where you can get online! Internet in the rooms rarely works and is very very very slow!

Honestly, I guess that hotel might be affordable and good for a group of young guys (share beds) who party at night (bars close at 2am), sleep in the morning/skip breakfast and just need the hotel to sleep and take a shower! Just pay 100 bath for a tuk tuk to go the Hilton hotel street or even just walk more to reach there!
I didn’t like Chalelarn Hotel at all! Especially BAD for families!
Advice: If you can’t afford an expensive hotel, just find a cheaper one near Hilton Hotel!

I stayed here with two pals on a golf break this April and we had a great time. Chalelarn is in a great location for Hua Hin nightlife and although small it has everything you would want. Small but clean pool on the 7th floor and friendly staff and a fine breakfast buffet. We would definitely stay again and only a few minutes away by Tuk Tuk from the oldest course in Thailand Royal Hua Hin.
