We stayed about 4 nights and enjoyed it thoroughly. It is located at the south end Patong beach on the island of Phuket. Patong beach is very touristy with so many shops and restaurants and bars it makes you wonder how they all stay open. However the hotel is just far enough the noise doesn't bother you. The hotel is located right in the water. The staff were all both professional and friendly and whatever you need they could get it for you.

The room we had was an ocean facing deluxe which had a king bed, desk area, a large sofa, a balcony with table and chairs and a nice bathroom with a shower only. This is a large hotel and it was a 5 minute walk to the lobby but if you wanted they would send a golf cart for you.

It has 3 restaurants although we only ate at the main one. Every night they had a buffet special or you could order off the menu. The included breakfast buffet was marvelous and had so many selections of food it would take too long to mention.

It was around $200 USD per night and worth it all. We would definitely stay there again.

After lots of research and back and forth on other hotels, I ended up changing my choice at the last minute and booking Amari. I wanted some peace and quiet for the last stop on our 2 week vacation, but was also worried staying in Karon or Kata beach would get too boring. Amari solved that problem as it is within walking distance to Patong and all the nightlife on Bangla road, but also far enough separated that it feels like a quiet resort.

I will start by saying it is probably best you book directly through their website as you can get a better package deal and it will likely be the same rate or pretty close to what you'll pay through expedia or a 3rd party booking site. We were staying enough nights to qualify for a spa package in which we received $1000 food credit, free transportation to/from airport, 2x 1hr massages, and 2x 45 min foot/leg massages.

Transportation: Pick-up from the airport was easy. The gentleman holding the Amari sign was first in line as we came out and he got us in the car within 10 minutes. The drive there was smooth in a nice car with bottles of water provided for us. Unfortunately we did not have the same experience on the way back as the driver they arranged tried to take us to a furniture shop to go "souvenir shopping". After we told him no, he proceeded to stop at a gas station and take his time and then drove like a maniac passing cars on the winding road around blind corners the rest of the way to the airport. I have let the hotel know about this as I am not sure they are Amari employees but rather a cab service that Amari contracts through. This was probably the only hiccup in our entire stay.

Room: We originally booked whatever the cheapest ocean view, standard room was but they let us know since we booked through their website that they were upgrading us to a 1-bedroom Ocean Wing suite. The villa was absolutely beautiful and spacious with an entire kitchen, dining room, living area, separate bedroom and large bathroom - we were put in the wing at the very edge of the property (so what seemed like the furthest away) and while there was a view of the ocean there was also a huge power pole right outside of the window which was an eyesore. We did actually consider asking them to go back to a regular room at one point because the suites do not have a balcony (unless you are at club level) but at that point we didn't want to pack all our stuff back up. Other than the lack of balcony there were no other physical issues with the room. The bed was the most comfortable in my entire 2 weeks in Thailand - it was the only one that was not hard as a rock and the walk in/waterfall shower was amazing. I would also ask for a top floor next time as we did hear quite a bit of dragging of furniture/chairs from upstairs. If your room is in the Ocean Wing you'll eat breakfast at the Coral Room vs. Rim Talay. We found walking to the Coral Room building and then down the lobby/pool in the morning to be do-able, but walking back up the stairs/hills during the day isn't ideal. So other than that, we took the buggy service - which was prompt and never took more than 5 mins, but if you're someone who likes to run back to the room quickly if you forgot something at the pool, etc. it's a bit of a hassle and you feel like you're inconveniencing them or being annoying - even though they are more than happy to pick you up and they don't see it that way. The path to our wing was also narrow so most the time the buggy had to back in quite a ways which could be nerve racking or they had to drop us off at the top of the path because there would be a maid cart or something else blocking the path.

Property: Beautiful property in general but it is expansive. I wouldn't recommend for the elderly as there are a lot of stairs. I'm young and consider myself fit, but in the humid heat it was a feat to get anywhere. We only made it out to the jetty once at night just to see it because it was quite a far walk. Both pools were very nice, we liked going to the adult pool later in the day as the main pool got more crowded and loud. You can walk down to the beach, but this isn't really a beach where you can bring a towel and lay out during the day the tide seemed to be in most of the day - you can swim pretty far out though because it is shallow. The water here isn't very nice or picturesque though.

Food: breakfast every morning was great - there was a good variety of different foods. The coral room was a little cramped, but usually there weren't more than a few other couples eating there at the same time we were. The Italian restaurant was good - be warned if you order a pizza it's not a personal size and it's large enough for the entire table. Rim Talay does both a buffet and an ala carte menu that features some Thai dishes and some western dishes like sandwiches, burgers, etc. We found that service if you order from the ala carte menu was rather slow here. There were also some stray cats on the property which seemed to migrate here every night and some guests would unfortunately try to coax them over and bribe them with food. Drinks were a disappointment throughout the property as we didn't really feel like there was any alcohol in them. You're probably better off ordering beer or wine. Prices were a little expensive as well, but that is to be expected for a resort.

Spa: This place is a gem! All the treatment rooms are located in separate huts built into the hills with views of the ocean. Again, lots of stairs but truly breathtaking. We loved both of our treatments and the ladies here are very professional.

Overall, we would definitely stay here again just maybe closer to the lobby/pool in one of the standard rooms.

Room tip: The Ocean Wing suites are beautiful but far
