We arrived at the Water Side resort and spa on Sunday 30th July. The guests appeared to be mainly German, Turkish and Russian, with a few English and French families. I think English was a 3rd language for many of the staff and we needed to point to what we wanted sometimes. This wasn't a problem.

The hotel is located a few KM from Side and right next to the Manavgat river. There's no shops within walkable distance, although there are various shops inside he hotel itself. The general shop was well stocked but quite expensive.

The hotel is self contained, but if you're looking for the pool and beach and some entertainment then it is ideal. There are plenty of boat trips and excursions, many involving the river if you want to take them.

The beach is a 5 minute walk away where there are plenty of sunbeds, snack bar and drinks available. The sea was quite rough and it gets deep within a few steps, but this didn't spoil our enjoyment. There isn't any sand as such, it's more stones or fine pebbles, so some swim shoes are essential. There is a free shuttle bus taking people to and from the beach, but as it's so close we just walked.

There is a free water taxi service to Manavgat every day and a bus stop outside the hotel which goes to side or Manavgat for €1 or $1 per person.

The hotel lobby is spacious and welcoming, there is a bar and plenty of seats.

Our check in was quick and easy and we were escorted to our room with our cases.

The room was clean and bright. All of the usual facilities, fridge which was restocked daily, TV and kettle. There is no alcohol in the minibar. The only peculiar thing about the room was the window between the main room and the bathroom. There was a blind, but I can't see a circumstance where the bathroom needs to be visible from the main room.

The balcony was extremely small, it only had space for a table and two chairs in a very tight configuration.

The pool area was very clean and there were always plenty of sun beds available. As always, many of the beds next to the pool lay reserved for most of the day unoccupied but there wasn't a mad scramble to get them in the morning.

Music plays around the pool most of the day and there are a number of activities going on such as water polo.

The slides were fantastic, open from 10-12 and 2-4 with a lifeguard in attendance. The lifeguards varied in strictness, some would only allow the kids to go down sitting forwards, one at a time, others were happy for people to go down in small groups, backwards etc. The tiles around the main pool were ridged so they were non slip, this was very good, but the tiles around the slide pool were extremely slippy and people fell over daily. There were some mats to help but they only covered the walking route to the slides.

After the slides closed, the lifeguard turned the water off and left, unfortunately the area was still accessible and children were climbing all over the slides which was pretty dangerous.

Beach and pool towels were provided clean every morning and could be dropped off and collected easily in exchange for a voucher for the next day's towels. The staff weren't too strict on the number of towels or tokens you could have.

The food was excellent, varied and well presented. We found something to suit us all every day. Plenty of freshly cooked meats such as lamb, beef, turkey, chicken and duck were available and there was a BBQ outside which we missed for the first few days. There was an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables. At breakfast there was freshly squeezed orange juice and other choices, I think tomato juice.

Ice creams were available around the pool area from 2-4pm each day, which meant large queues forming each day. There was an option to buy premium ice creams and milk shakes but I didn't see many people doing this.

The WiFi was free but wasn't great, it never worked around the pool or restaurant area, but in reception and the room it seemed to work early in the morning and during the day. At night it was over subscribed and didn't work well. There is good mobile phone signal with 4G around the hotel (Vodafone TR).

The TV in the room was mainly German and Turkish channels with the odd French and English (the awful BBC World) mixed in. We didn't bother with the TV.

We took advantage of the Turkish bath and SPA which was excellent. Myself, my wife and the kids had about 2 hours in for €100. We all had the Turkish Bath and face mask, myself and my wife also had the full body massage. During our stay my wife and daughter went back for specific treatments which were reasonably priced and worth the money.

The drinks were good. Freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast and a other selection of drinks. Pepsi, Fanta and sprite were available at all bars. We don't drink so I cannot comment on the alcohol choices. My only grumble was, when asking for Pepsi light, I was given regular Pepsi quite often so if you have a problem with sugar this might be an issue for you.

We only encountered a couple of minor problems while we were there, the electric sockets stopped working by the bedside and we needed additional bathroom towels, both of these requests were resolved by reception within 10 minutes.

We were only given 1 room card and this was contactless, it opened the door but also controlled the electrics in the room. It was a little frustrating when you take the card out, the power to the sockets goes off, we got around this by sticking a contactless bank card in the slot which activated the power.

There were a lot of cats walking around the site, and sometimes in the restaurant. They didn't cause any harm and didn't seem to bother the guests, but the hotel respectfully asks guests not to feed them as they are fed by the hotel.

Overall, the Water Side resort and spa exceeded our expectations and we had an extremely enjoyable holiday. Would definitely recommend it.

Returned yesterday after our fourth visit and had another great week.
Food plentiful and could always find something we liked. Staff very hard working and special thanks to Baris in the dining room for making our last meal so special.
All the staff were pleasant and helpful even if their English wasn't fluent they tried, which is all you can ask.
The pool was clean with constant clearing of surrounding areas. Room cleaned daily.
Animation team didn't pester you to join in but were excellent at keeping you entertained.
Reception very helpful.
All in all can't find a fault with anything, and hope to return later this year.

Gorgeous hotel, great food everyday. Alcoholic drinks aren't the greatest, but ok. The entertainment team where awesome, especially Gorkem. Always really friendly and always entertaining and full of energy.
Would recommend this hotel, if you don't mind Russian's.

A lot of good things at hotel, clean pool, nice staff - especially animation team, good food... But.. I never thought that such hotel could have so poor internet - I could not use it at room, only in lobby and very poor even there :(

Beer - very poor.. Only good thing was its low temperature..

Last day could not sleep because of loud music..

Room Tip: Rooms with sea view are bit expensive but opposite site is also nice.. I would not pay more for that view
