I've just come back from this hotel after a week of so called all-inclusive. The food is shocking. The staff are rude and unhelpful. Watching the manger beat up one of the young staff is not what you want to see on your holidays. The drinks are watered down to the max. There's two different strengths of spirits and the westerners get the weak stuff. If you go here with a group don't expect to walk away from the bar with a round of drinks. One per person I'm afraid. If you want a sun bed that's in the sun you best get up early. There's about 10. Will not be steeping into this hotel again. Even if some one paid me.

When we decided to spend our vacation in Marmaris, we expected little from hotel Karen, since it was the cheapest all inclusive hotel we found. It is nothing special, but the staff is really pleasant and friendly, the food is quite good and tasty, especially the cookies and cakes, so it was all we needed. Rooms are ok, and the beach is quite close. I highly recommend it if you do not have high expectations from the hotel itself.

Had such an amazing holiday in Marmaris and we are definitely returning within the next 3 months! The Turkish people make turkey what it is to be honest! They are all so free and anything goes, within reason obviously. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel we were just out and about all the time.

The Karen hotel we stayed at was great, all the staff were very friendly and do anything to try and help you. If you respect them and don't expect a 5* gourmet service with waiters dropping at your feet then they will make your stay lovely. Was a cheap holiday so didn't expect a lot at all. The rooms were nice had everything we needed, although the air con was at an extra cost, but keeping the balcony door open before you sleep helps, and we were fine during the night.

Pool was lovely, but get your towels down on the sunbeds quick! Beach was also nice to sunbathe on, the Maris Beach Hotel sunbeds are recommended as the service and comfy-ness was great and they are free, if you fancy a change of scene from the hotel.

Drinks were from 11am-11pm and were nice, and there was always someone to ask for one if you wanted. Staff were so friendly and kind.

The hotel offers a free bus service to and from Bar Street every night which is the best place in the whole world. Really lively and things going on everywhere. We went there every single night. Prices there for drinks are a bit expensive, but if you drink before then just buy one there then its good. Met so many different people there. REALLY RECOMMENED Club Areena, that's definitely the best club there, was playing electro dance all night and foam party every night, was amazing. And all the clubs are free to get in to, its just the drinks that cost.

The only thing that slightly let this hotel down was the food, as I do like my food and was not much choice, mainly had salad and rice, but ate out very cheap a few nights anyway so was ok. The first morning there was not very much choice for breakfast, no cereal but I overheard someone complain to the manager, and the next day sure enough there was a choice of cereals which were there for the rest of our stay. We bought a HUGE watermelon for something equivalent to like £1 in a shop which was worth it, and asked the chef to cut it up which he was happy to.

All the staff there were lovely even the cleaning ladies and always smiled. Manager was great and happy to help and the lady receptionist is very helpful for telling you where everything is and how to get to markets etc. and the guy called Oofa makes amazing coffees!

Went on a boat trip one day which was lovely that took you around all the little islands and you could jump off the boat and swim in the clear blue sea. Worth doing!

Your holiday is definitely what you make it! Very much recommended going to Turkey!

I stayed here with my boyfriend for only one week (luckily), we arrived at the hotel at about 1am and after travelling for a quite a while we were desperate for a drink. They did not even offer us a glass of water they instead informed us that the bar by the pool area was open and we could buy a drink from there.

We had paid for a room upgrade so that we would definitely have a double bed, we did not get this. Our room had two single beds in it, we went to the reception and explained our situation and the young gentleman informed us that all the rooms were fully booked and he did not have the authority to switch our room. He advised us to speak to the receptionist in the morning who was the manager to solve this matter. We never got a double bed and had to make do with our single beds pushed together.

When going on an all-inclusive budget holiday you do not expect steak every night for your dinner but you at least expect to know what you are eating! If it wasn't chicken nuggets or unseasoned chicken then you couldn't tell what kind of meat they were trying to feed you! At breakfast there was no yoghurt or fruit, no cereal and not even a chance of bacon or sausage. The salad severed with lunch and dinner often contained the leftovers from the previous days meal. The chips were that soggy they were raw and with every meal you could have, bread, chips, rice and dry pasta.

The bar was open 11am (ish) and closed bang on 11pm, all inclusive included; gin, raki and vodka (which they claimed to be constantly running out of) red and white wine (which was like rat poison) and beer. If you went to the bar and someone was there to serve you then you was lucky as it was often left deserted. The manager of the hotel would talk to the bar staff and all of a sudden there would be no vodka left, it got to the point where we did not believe the sudden lack of vodka and when we looked behind the bar (which was left unattended yet again) and found a whole bottle of vodka. Which proved they were just lying to us so that we would buy drinks from the poolside bar!

The shower was an absolute joke, it constantly switched from hot to cold and it was that small that when it had its sudden change in temperature you could not move out of the way! You were lucky if it had any power and often was nothing more than a trickle and a cold trickle at that! I have shoulder length hair and it was havoc trying to get the shampoo & conditioner out of my hair. There is no way you could have a child in this hotel, they would not get in that shower! Also in the week that we stayed the childrens pool was never cleaned.

The only good things about the hotel were the dj man (who had just quit as we were leaving) and the rooms were very clean and it was in a good location close to the frount. The majority of the staff were overworked and probably underpaid, some understood little to no English but they still tried their best to be polite and friendly at all times. Luckily for us we met some lovely people in the hotel (as well as the rude eastern Europeans) and with out them our experience in the hotel would have been an absolute nightmare!

Room Tip: Pick another hotel if you can!

We try different budget hotels every year we come to Marmaris. This April we stayed at the Karen.e arrived on the 19th there were only about 10 guests in the hotel, they only served dinner till 8 pm we went down at 8.30pm there was nothing left they had cleared up.we complained and the next evening we were down at 8.again only one main meal so if you didnt like it you went without.after 4 nights the hotel was quite full the evening meal still contained one main dish,at least at the other budget hotels you get a bit more choice. The rooms are ok the staff are quite young and under trained, one saving grace was the receptionist Huseyin he was very helpful. I would say if you go after April and before October you would be ok but there are a few better 3 star hotels
