We booked this hotel after it was recommended from a family member who stayed here few years ago.
I will break this review down into sections so it helps. We are still at the hotel and check out on Monday 30th December 2024. I will also add that on my check out the GM Andre did come to see me and we had a really good conversation. Credit to Andre and his team they did put everything right for us. Again this is a beautiful hotel.
We checked in on Tuesday 24th December 2024. We are a family of 6 travelling, with 3 rooms booked (2 rooms which are connecting via balcony and a separate room).
Rooms / Reservations
Our two rooms which are connecting via balcony states on their website it sleeps up to 8 people but doesn’t state anything else relating to additional charges. We emailed the hotel directly back in October 2024. The reservation team were fully aware of the number of guest and how many rooms we needed. There was a number of emails going back and forth to clarify information as what we were asking was getting missed so had to ask again. Once we got to the finishing line we booked our 3 rooms. A week before our check in we had another email telling us we had to pay an additional $50 a day (total $300) for an additional bed for our 7 year old daughter. This was a shock to us as the hotel knew how many guest were checking in. At the time we accepted because we didn’t want to be in a position without a hotel. This was extremely unprofessional and unacceptable for the hotel to do this a week before our arrival and left us in a position we had to accept. Their website has conflicting information to what the reservation team will tell you.
Taxi
Our room included airport pick up and drop off. The airport pick up was great and the hotel staff was there to meet us with a sign.
Check in
This was hectic as whilst we were checking in, the hotel was setting up for the Christmas carol concert that evening which was being held in the reception area. There was a lot of noise with sound checks etc and meant that we couldn’t even have a discussion with the hotel staff without interruption. On arrival we went from a sofa to the Christmas Desk to the front desk to get checked in. This process should have been seamless with guests taken to one location. We were served a fresh dragon fruit juice which was very nice and presented in such a way.
I was asked for my credit card to confirm the booking and for a deposit. I handed my credit card as we had already paid for the rooms up front. The “additional bed cost” was also charged to my credit card without being told. I told the person to refund this payment as I would be charged credit card fees and I will pay this cash. This was corrected eventually, the conversion about the additional cost of the bed couldn’t be had as it was too hectic and till now I don’t believe I should have been charged this as the hotel had me over a barrel with this. Different circumstances I would have not stayed at this hotel out of principle.
The lady at the front desk (her name means Flower) was very polite and professional. Once again there was too much noise for me to discuss the additional cost with her.
Rooms
All 3 rooms were beautiful and looked amazing, this I cannot fault. The rooms reflect it’s a 5 star hotel. There was enough towels for all the guests and our bed was beautifully decorated with a swan and rose petals. Our rooms were on the 4th floor which was perfect. Everyday our rooms were cleaned and the staff cleaning the rooms did an amazing job.
Christmas Eve Dinner
We opted for both dinners which were paid for upfront. It was nice that both dinners were in different parts of the hotel. The selection of food was brilliant and worth the money. They had a live singer and band which was good. Ordering the drinks could have been organised better and more drinks menu on every table.
Christmas Day Dinner
Once again good selection of food a lot smaller then the day before but understandable as not as many guest. They only thing I wasn’t happy with is we were placed right at the back of the room where you couldn’t hear the lady singing clearly and additional speakers should have been placed at the back of the room so everyone can appreciate the music not just the people towards the front. Both dinners are open to hotel guests and non hotel guests. Once again I’d recommend this. Kids were very happy with the food.
The only thing I would mention is that our reservation said Christmas dinner was included and we took this to mean dinner on actual Christmas Day (25th Dec) but they meant Christmas Eve. Had this been clear, we may have made other arrangements for Christmas Day but as we only found this out at check-in, it was too late.
Breakfast
The breakfast was the best, it had the best selection of foods what I would say from around the world and catered for everyone. There is no chance of anyone walking out of breakfast feeling hungry. You had live cooking stations with lots of variety. Again all the staff here work extremely hard to deliver the best in class. Every single item was hot and fresh, our 3 children loved it and could not get enough. For me the dumplings were the best. The fresh juices and fresh fruits were a real delight. I can’t see how anyone would say anything negative about the selection put on.
Staff
I will say that everyone at this hotel is very polite and professional. They will say hello and acknowledge you and your family. During our stay we saw 2 of the managers on most days (in white shirts) Mr Edwin every time he saw us he would always smile and say hello. This was nice and the kids loved it. I would say that majority of the staff knew us which was nice and made the stay extra special.
Bar
We used the bar a couple of times, it’s a nice and relaxed environment where you can chill and have a drink. On both nights there was live music.
Play Room
Really good play room with lots of stuff to keep the kids entertained, couple of X boxes, pool table, air hockey table and table football.
Kids Club
Really good with lots of stuff for the kids, my kids enjoyed it’s especially the ball pit.
Gym
The gym is really good with excellent equipment and all in good condition.
Spa / Pool
Don’t understand why there is a Spa facility when outside the hotel you can get the same services at a fraction of the cost. We enquired about using the hot tub for 5 of us. We were told to use the hot tub for 30 minutes we would have to book a treatment each then pay an additional fee to use the hot tub. We asked if we could pay to use the hot tub? We were told not without a treatment booked. Makes no sense as no one was using it. This was a perfect opportunity to generate revenue rather than saying no. The pool is nice but not heated. During our visit it was raining every day and we did use the pool but it was very very cold. As this is off peak season I would suggest a heated pool or at the very least the hotel needs an indoor pool so guests can enjoy it whilst it’s raining or have the option of using the hot tub and sauna for a reasonable fee.
Being off peak season there was enough beds to chose from as no one wanted to sit in the rain. I can imagine during peak season it must be a battle to get a sun bed and beds must get taken at crack of dawn, not sure how this is managed.
Everything mentioned above is facilities which myself and my family used. There is no evening entertainment for families which could add value and attract customers during off peak seasons. The hotel grounds are very clean and beautiful. Would I come back to this hotel.. Yes would I recommend this hotel… Yes but they are not prepared for keeping guests entertained in the evening and during the rain when there is limited things you can do in Da Nang which is not outdoors.
Thank you again Andre and the team at Furama
