We visited the village during our stay in Livingstone, we hired a local taxi cost was $20 return, taxi driver waited while we toured the village which took approx.75mins.
We were shown around the village by a guide, she explained the everyday life of the village people..we were allowed into a family home to see inside and see what family life was like.
We were unable to see local crafts being made as there was a funeral that day of a village resident.
The village needs more tourists to help support ..should you decide to go ..pens, pencils, exercise books, things for the children will be greatly appreciated.

This is an active village of over 7000 residents where tours allow you to glimpse into the life of the locals and struggles they have in daily chores. It is eye opening. A MUST SEE. There is a chance to buy gifts at the end of the tour that directly support the residents of the village

There was no need to join any tour for this and we simply took a taxi there. Upon entering with a fee USD5@, a guide from the village came out and guided us around. We found her indifferent, seems wanted to finish as soon as possible.

Anyway, we met quite many kids in the village who are pure and lovely. We had brought with us some biscuits and pens and gave them via the guide.

It's a short visit no more than 1 hour including the shopping time at the entrance. There were many handcrafts at good price.

So much of what is seen around the Falls seems very touristy, and I was longing to understand more about life away from the tourist attractions. While my guide also helped me visit Chinotimba, the non-tourist living area on the edge of Vic Falls, his grandffather had come from this village and he suggested a visit. Coming from Vic Falls, you pay the taxi from the border ($15) and then pay the village an honorarium for welcoming you ($10). A guide (in our case, a very lovely lady who explained so much) takes you through the compounds, which have apparently existed for 700 years. She explains the legends of the chiefs (there is a male and female) and, There is a tree under which Livingstone apparently met the then-chief. if you're courageous, you can try the local homemade beer (warm and a bit mealy) and a stronger brew that tastes a little like "moonshine." At the end, you are escorted to the community center where all the men display their wonderful crafts. I was glad I waited to look at all before making purchases--there is a stunning array of products. It is also customary to tip the guide.
