We stayed here for two nights over the Christmas holiday before heading out for our onsen resort at Lake Toya. It was a 10 minute walk from the train station. Rooms were much roomier than we had in Tokyo. Hotel has a nice design and it close to some interesting sights. Their breakfast buffet was awesome with a great variety of Japanese and some Western foods. Interestingly, we went to the same restaurant that evening and while the food was good the service was terrible. The waitress kept ignoring us even though I speak pretty decent Japanese (having lived in Japan for 11 years) and I’m sure I was being understood. Sometimes people in Japan can be shy and reluctant to deal with foreigners.
Despite the service issue, I’d stay here again on the assumption that the service in the restaurant was not typical of their normal service. The staff at the front desk were excellent and helpful.More
