Awesome staffs. A room with a great view. They also have a massage chair! A toilet and a shower room is separated. It's located at the center of Otaru. The only drawback is that they have a Keurig in a guestroom which is being charged & not being notified in advance.

This was our first stop in Hokkaido. I booked this hotel via the Internet a few weeks before our trip. I wanted to go to this restaurant in Otaru but they will only take phone reservations. I emailed the hotel and communicated with a Noriko san who kindly made enquiries with the restaurant and made reservations on our behalf. Thank you Noriko san!

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Otaru station literally and it is just opposite the Otaru Canal. It is also close to the Sakai street where all the shops are located. Please note that a lot of restaurants close really early. Don't plan on having a 6pm dinner as you will not have many choices. Either have a big lunch or go for an early dinner plus snacks for later at night.

Back to the hotel. Overall the hotel is very clean and the interior of the reception gives you a historic feel. Our room was quite spacious compared to the hotels in Tokyo, so we were quite comfortable. The staff was attentive and very polite. On our first day they provided us with a map and directions to places we wanted to go to. They also reminded us of the restaurant reservation - how nice is that?

Although there maybe newer hotels I think I will come back to Hotel Nord Otaru as the location is very central.

Also note the sun rises very early in Otaru in late May. On the first night we forgot to put the blinds down and we got sun in our face around 3:45am the next morning. Remember to put the blinds down :)

Room tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Otaru Canal

Located across a road from the canal, and within walking distance of this small-town's attractions, this last-minute booking proved excellent value.

Staff were very helpful to non-Japanese speakers, particularly when correcting a booking mistake. On-site parking cost ¥1000; recommend checking in early to make sure you get a space in the automatic garage.

Room was quiet and very comfortable.

Right next to the famous Otaru canal, within walking distance to Sakai march street. Cozy hotel, staff is efficient but not extremely friendly. Some how many of the eateries are closed early, our family had to settle for the only sushi restaurant still open for dinner at 9pm

The hotel was well-located. We hopped off the train and made our way to the hotel as it was within walking distance. It's also within walking distance to all the major sights and just a stone's throw from the famous canal. Staff were efficient, spoke English and very pleasant. It is a quaint hotel and we had no complaints. Highly recommended.
