This was my second time staying near yamashita park and my first at New Grand. This hotel is old but elegant. We could not fault any of the staff. From the greeting staff at the door to concierge and the front desk, they were all quick to help and friendly. We had a Japanese breakfast, we weren’t quite sure if there was an order to it or we were supposed to eat it a certain way but we enjoyed it very much. The Hotel New Grand is very convenient to the MM6 subway line, China Town and many other requirements. For visiting Australians though, please note, coffee and tea are not included in your room Tarif however I would definitely stay here again.

We were there for the Typhoon & earthquake - and survived on the 14th floor!
The location next to Chinatown & the water is great, and its a 10-15 minute walk to the station.
As usual the staff are well trained and very friendly, and breakfast for us was more than adequate.
Also it had the largest room on our entire tour.

Thank you very much for posting your feedback about your previous stay at Hotel New Grand. We do understand how harsh it was for you to experience the natural disaster especially when you are far away from home.
I would like to offer my heartfelt sympathy to everyone who has been affected by the disaster. Many people are still not able to go back home and we are extremely concerned about those who are still under the difficult situation. We hope your trip to Japan has still been nice and memorable while you unfortunately encountered both typhoon and earthquake. We look forward to serving you again in the near future.

Excellent accommodations. Very good restaurant friendly courteous staff. Every courtesy was extended during our 10 day stay at the New Grand. There is a quaint bar in the lower lever, very intimate. Bartender very well versed.

Room tip: Upper floors on west side away from main thoroughfare

We appreciate your feedback about your previous stay at our hotel. Our bar-Sea GuardianⅡhas been very popular since its opening in 1927. I passed on your comment to our bartender and he was very gratified to learn your kind words and asked me to send you best regards. He enjoyed serving you our signature cocktail “Martini New Grand” which was created during our 1945~1952 occupation era after WW2. A bartender improvised this cocktail substituting sherry for vermouth due to out of stock and well received among US officers. Please come and visit us again to enjoy stepping back in time atmosphere at Sea GuardianⅡ.

I stayed at New Grand on the 24th to 26th September 2019 on my most recent Japan trip. My wife and I were travelling across japan and Yokohama was our 2nd stop. Firstly I would like to commend on the excellent service provided by this hotel. I booked a Tower Room and was assigned a huge bedroom over looking the bay and yamashita park. At the point of check room, we had a lady staff patiently explaining the different aspects of our room and how to access the different controls and functions. This is very good service which I've seldom encounter. The location of the hotel is also very convenient to yokohama chinatown. There you'll find abundant restaurants and Chinese food. Yamashita park is directly in front of the hotel so for the active travellers, do bring your jogging and exercise gear so that you may jog along the bay anytime of the day. Though this hotel is not within city area, it is still conveniently accessible to places of attractions like the red brick warehouse, nissin noodle gallery and the iconic ferris wheel. We managed to visit all these attractions by walking 20-30 min. Lastly I would to say a huge thank you to the hotel and their staff because after leaving yokohama, my wife left her glasses behind in the hotel room. Whilst in Osaka she remembered that mistake. I rung the hotel up and they actually delivered the glasses to our osaka hotel where we were staying around 2 days later. Very grateful and thankful for their efforts. They bubble wrapped the glasses very well and my wife was surprised how clean and polished they looked. Thank you for going the extra mile. I will definitely be back in future

Beautiful hotel, the view we're stunning from my hotel room especially at night, my bed was so comfortable and room incredible, down side variety of food for breakfast was just all right, I love Asian food but that too was in shot supply, though what I did sample was very good and my omelette made in front of me was very tasty. The staff came out to wave goodbye on our departure which was really thoughtful. The hotel is very near Yokohama China Town with no shortage of places to eat.

Thank you very much for your feedback about your previous stay at Hotel New Grand. We are pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay. Your candid feedback about our breakfast is very much appreciated, and we passed on your comment to our restaurant section. We have two restaurants that serve breakfast. Our French restaurant serves western style full breakfast buffet and our Japanese restaurant serves authentic Japanese style combination breakfast. So, our guests need to choose either from them. We know that some hotels in Japan have large breakfast venue where guests can pick up from array of variety at one time. It is a fun experience at all to enjoy both Asian and western food but we find it more important to offer nice and quiet atmosphere with authentic food with choice ingredients. We take your comment to the heart as we consider every feedback as a gift. We look forward to welcoming you again to Hotel New Grand in the near future.

Location - literally 1-2 minutes walk from the exit of Motomachi Chukagai train station. Remember to take Exit 1. Other exits are quite a distance away from the hotel. Chinatown, Yamashita park are all a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Staff - needless to say, they are all very polite and friendly. After check in, a lady porter escorted me to my room where she explained all the functions of the knobs and buttons in the room.
Room - I guess it was quite spacious by Japanese standard. A little bit of improvement would be to have more power outlets. There’s only one by the desk.
Breakfast - 2 options available : buffet western breakfast and Japanese set breakfast. The western breakfast is served at the Le Normandie restaurant in the main building, the Japanese breakfast is at another building. I only had the western breakfast and it was very good. The pastries were simply the best!
Would I stay here again? Definitely!
