Very beautiful and relaxing garden to walk through. You can purchase a ticket to visit here at a discount if you first visit Himeji Castle. I would recommend if you are interested in the tea ceremony to not go to the first tea ceremony area as it gets very busy, continue on through the garden and you will find a tea garden that also offers the tea ceremony which is much quieter. However, do your research prior as to what to do during a tea ceremony to know how to behave so as not to offend.

This picturesque garden is located right next to the Himeji castle but is no less spectacular. There are many gardens of different types to amaze and delight you. They are well tended and make great use of flowing water. The autumn colours show up beautifully here. There is also a few pavilions and a cafe.
There is something for everyone here.
Highly recommended

For an extra 50yen add this to the price of the Castle visit. Situated to the west of the castle and a short walk to the entrance, the gardens provided a stunning setting with fabulous views at every turn. Just exactly what you would expect from a Japanese garden and more. Manicured and structured planting with superb water features threaded across the walks. A fitting end to our Japan trip.

There's a collection of gardens, each with their own unique theme or style. One of them is bound to please you. You even get to walk through their nursery. An inexpensive add-on to the castle ticket it's certainly worth having a look. A great way to finish a day trip to Himeji when time is limited.

Definitely visit these beautiful gardens if you have time! They're located to the left of the entrance to the Himeji castle grounds. In Autumn, the leaves are a beautiful brown colour. There's a peaceful waterfall and giant koi carp in the lakes.
