Apart from the usual spa that the Dormy Hotels have, this hotel has a very nice breakfast for a very low price and they also have the free noodle bowl for the night which is very convenient for the late arrivals. The only "but" is that it is a bit far from the train station or the ferry station but it is the city centre on the contrary. Anyway it is a highly recommendable hotel.

We visited Takamatsu for the autumn season of the Setouchi Triennale so I reckon I paid a top rate for a double room for three nights. We were two men and I asked whether we might get a twin room instead. No go - but for an extra JPY11,700, we were offered an additional room. The total rate over three nights for a double room each turned into a great price and I was really grateful for the suggestion and the cheap better-than-upgrade. The Dormy Inn is in a terrific spot, within easy walking distance to Kawaramachi Station and the endless parallel shotengai arcades of downtown Takamatsu. We also comfortably walked home each day from the port after wonderful days exploring the islands of the inland sea; when arriving at the station or port with luggage, jump in a taxi for a cheap short trip to the hotel. The top floor of the Dormy Inn includes a fully kitted onsen, a real draw card that we enjoyed each night. Breakfast is missable; look, the Japanese don't do western breakfasts, there I've said it, better off to pick up a packet of cereal or muesli, yoghurt and some juice at the supermarket five minutes away. Those endless parallel shotengai include a lovely lady on one corner making fresh nikuman and two or three excellent restaurants with a great selection of Japanese specialties - all within 10 minutes' stroll of the Dormy Inn. I'll be staying again - I didn't get to see enough of Takamatsu itself and I want to further explore Kagawa prefecture and Shikoku from this perfect base. Recommended.

Well placed, comfortable and friendly hotel. A small room but the hotel facilities - good onsen, free ramen in the evening, laundry and good cheap breakfast - more than compensated. Mainly Japanese guests - we were conspicuously Caucasian. Very good base to explore Naoshima and the Setouchi triennial. Would certainly stay there again.

Excellent place to stay in Takamatsu. There's a communal bath on one of the higher floors; they serve free "midnight ramen" (actually from around 9:30 to 11:30 pm, as I recall). In the commercial district with a lot of shopping, bars, and restaurants in walking distance. 2 washers & dryers for doing laundry. The hotel breakfast, for $6 or $7 per person, was a good deal & good for starting off the day. Paid around $140/night, not including breakfast.
