An easy walk and a great viewing point.

Walking around inside the park many beautiful garden and some old japanese house are to be seen.

Also the canal areas there are a boat ride in a japanese style available as well.

The admission fee is a mere 200yen so drop by before 5pm any day

In summary:
If you just hanging around Takamatsu and got some time off, swing by this nice little site

Wanted to view this site after reading Tripadvisor reviews. Right opposite our hotel so perfect location to visit as we had a couple of hours wait for our train.....also opposite hotel!
Great garden, beautifully kept. Especially liked the paving stones, never seen anything quite like it. We were rewarded with large fish jumping out of the water in the moat. Only 200 yen entry fee. Brilliant bargain.

After seeing many Japanese Castles it's easy to become blasé about them. Takamatsu Castle however, is a little different and that's why I recommend it.

The castle is known as the only Japanese Castle that uses ocean water for it's moat. As the castle is located a stone's throw from the sea, the local's channeled the sea water into and around the castle surrounds. Inside the wide moat you will see large fish swimming around.

The castle also has a nice garden surrounding it and lots of plaques giving English explanations of the various sights.

Although only parts of the original castle still remain there is ample to fill an hour or two of leisurely strolling. The moat and bridge by themselves are outstanding. The garden is an early 1900's piece of botanical artwork with good English explanation signs describing is building and the philosophy behind it. It was an insight into the mind of a Japanese garden matter.

Best time to visit would be March or April, but then there would be a lot more people

Not like kamamoto Castle and Matsumoto Castle. It was ruined but it still worth to go. Just don't expect too much.
