Have just spent 10 lovely days here! Very relaxed, wonderful staff who really made you feel special and made such a fuss over our children, beautiful position right on the stunning beach, lovely spacious rooms, fantastic food and a very good price!
May not fit everyone's idea of a 5* hotel but this isn't Dubai! If you want an incredibly relaxing beach holiday - this is the place!
All the staff really went out of their way to make sure we had a fantastic holiday. Friendly, helpful, professional and personable at every level, but never intrusive or overbearing.
Some people have mentioned the 'beach boys' as a negative. Never forget you are in a developing country. Just take a trip to the stunning Hell's Kitchen in Marafa and ponder on what you see on the way. The guys on the beach are making a living and are polite and respectful. They don't want a bad reputation. Be straight with them, buy a few coconuts or let them guide you in the reef. If you don't want their attention, tell them 'not today' and they'll say 'Hakuna Matata' and move on.
Malindi is a gem that was found but then lost a little during the global financial crisis. The many Italians that bought property there, have sold up and gone leaving the locals slightly bewildered at the lack of tourists that they were used too. But what is left behind is a genuine, tropical paradise that you, at the moment, can have to yourself! Malindi and its people is amazing. Get there before everyone else does!

I spent two nights in the hotel as I was in Malindi for business. It is a relatively small resort, which I liked, as it was generally quiet and peaceful. The rooms are enormous and feature private patios which are as big as hotel rooms in New York City. The rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable and the bathrooms feature jacuzzi tubs. The bed is enormous and comfortable. The wireless internet in my room worked relatively well (but another colleagues struggled to get a connection in his room). I had no issues but two other colleagues had problems getting hot water once or twice so you may not have a flawless experience. Try for one of the upstairs rooms. We were on half board (breakfast and dinner included). The breakfast was ok but the dinner was fantastic - a five course meal with an appetizer/salad, soup, pasta, main course, and dessert. You choose between a few options in each category and there were always vegetarian options. With five courses, plan on spending a good hour and a half at the table. The breakfast and dinner hours aren't great for business travelers (starting at 7:30am and 8pm) but are manageable.

Room Tip: Try for one of the upstairs rooms.

Pleased with the standard of this hotel for the price. Lovely staff who were willing to help, allowed me to take tea/coffee in my room while putting my baby to bed throughout the day which was lovely! Rooms were serviced well (despite being a little tired in the bathroom) and nice and clean. Airconditioning much appreciated. Pool area needs improved cleaning attention - lots of families were eating in the vicinity and it was slow to be tidied up so lots of flies in the region. Beach largely unusable due to such significant hassling by locals. Otherwise a great stay.

This is a 5* hotel and at one point it should have been perfect in every sense but with the fall in tourist numbers at the coast that has taken its toll on this beautiful hotel out of no fault of its own.

However that being said it is still trying to provide the service its been renowned for the rooms are spacious, the amenities are good, food tasty and service exceptional.

Overall good experience.

Large beds, spacious rooms. But we changed rooms half way through our stay to go from being right at the end of the property to the middle and the 2nd room we stayed in had 2 mattresses joined up for the main bed, rough bobbly sheets, air conditioner was ineffective despite them trying to fix it.
Food - good but can get monotonous and repetitive, especially if you are a vegetarian. We went over Easter, peak time, so it was mass prepared food. We found weavils in the pasta too (yuk!!). However, Dolla, the restaurant manager is excellent and always went above and beyond what he needed to do.
Worst of all were the staff at reception and check in - unresponsive and slow at everything. They let the whole place down.
Different rules for different people - spa pool usage not made clear despite paying the same for the room rate.
Really bothersome beach boys.
Health and safety - no glass bottles or glasses should be used at the poolside.
