Sorry for the late review, but this hotel seems to undergone huge renovation! That is awesome!

The reasons why my family preferred this hotel are:

1) They have a very decent parking lot (sorry, but as for someone driving into Malaysia and park anywhere out there is just very dangerous and insecure to us. However, this hotel has a decent parking space with security.

2) The famous Dim Sum places are just behind. Just behind the hotel. And the famous Cantonese restaurant is just across the street.

3) It is a pretty decent hotel, clean and value for money. Keep up with the good work! =D

I stayed here for a night. They hotel provides free parking but the parking is a bit narrow. The staff were very helpful as initially the card to my room was not functioning, the staff were very apologetic about it. The room they gave me had a lingering cigarette smell and I noticed there were a some stains on the towel which I was not very pleased about.

Room Tip: Try to request for a non-smoking room.

I love the hotel for the price and location right in the middle of Ipoh city. A walk away from Ipoh Parade. Got its own parking. New bedding and renovated design (last came here 10 years ago). Ohhh..the rain shower...can even create your own little sauna. The water pressure is like coming from the fire hose, very very strong. And hot as you may like. No matter how tired you are, you will want to have shower, haha. Breakfast is ok, acceptable. Don't worry if they have not made your bed by 2pm. Just call and they will come right away. No sweat. Such great staff. Clean spacious room with nice view. Great streaming internet. See.. I love the hotel...but...at night...I'm starting to think "did I just arrive at a horrible concert?" Still...don't worry. The terrible singing stop at around 1-2am and it is heaven again. So next time? I'll choose a room facing back of the hotel away from the karaoke madness. Might not get such nice view but will save your ears, heart and soul at night.

Room Tip: choose a room facing back of the hotel away from the karaoke madness

Winning location (being one of the earlier hotels in Ipoh) amidst popular eateries. The renovated floor (12th) and impressively huge room particularly, has a blend of old and new. A full set (can generously seat 5 pax) of old "rosewood" settee inlaid with "marble of pearl" (antique?) in the spacious sitting area complemented by a sizeable wooden wardrobe, big writing table and credenza, old furnishings, still leave much space to spare. With a huge jacuzzi (a surprise!), besides a rain shower, one bathmat will not keep the floor dry. There is also no towel for the sink top! Housekeeping didnt seem to understand the problem...cutting back on laundry cost? Hotel policy of only two access card per room was a problem when both cards were inadvertently left in room. A third card was issued, messing up all the 3 cards' accessibility (something not experienced in other hotels), as one after the other, the cards have to be repeatedly "renewed."
Brightly lit room, good accoustics, clean comfortable beddings inspite minimal coffee/tea corner, empty fridge.

Old as in it urgently needs a facelift and not old as in elegantly antique. Clean though and location is good. Smells of wet carpeting and the walls are paper thin. My room's toilet door won't shut properly as well. Receptionist at front counter is super slow (when checking out) and there was a long queue even though there's just a few of us. Found out that their system wasn't computerized hence all checking out was done manually with lots of paperwork. Cheap though...
