We booked the hotel because our family loves antiques, art, and history; and this place exceeded our expectations. We booked a suite which was like an apartment with a receiving area, bathroom, and two rooms (one room with study area and overlooking the street). Artworks are scattered throughout the house and most of the furniture are antiques in excellent condition with exquisite details. We also enjoyed the open area bath and the toiletries which are locally made. The rooms are well-appointed with good airconditioning, mini ref, television, percolator, and coffee press. The whole place is spotless. Our rate (approximately 10 USD) includes breakfast and it was also very good (orange juice, tea or coffee, bread basket with jam, fruits or yogurt, eggs with ham or bacon, and muesli or cereals). The staff are very friendly and helpful as well.

From the moment of arrival to moment of departure the staff of this wonderful hotel could not do enough for my family and I. The rooms (suite) was fabulous, with spotless facilities and interesting character furniture.
The food in the hotel is worth the visit alone; all freshly prepared and plate service for breakfast which is so much more enjoyable than buffet IMO.
Great support from staff on additional requests (we had a 1 year old) and extremely family friendly.

Our family of three stayed at Coffee Atelier for 3 nights. The shophouse is lovingly restored to reflect the ambience of what it's like to live here decades ago. The feeling of coming 'home' once you stepped into the living foyer is refreshing and the area is simply but elegantly furnished. We have the whole space upstairs - spacious master bedroom and a little room at the end of the corridor. Again tastefully furnished with quality bedlinens and amenities.

Excellent hospitality from Robyn. She is warm and friendly and ever so willing to assist in any request. She runs a very efficient team especially during breakfast time. The quality of breakfast items is very good and service attentive.

Location is fabulous as it is right in the centre of Georgetown and all the famed hawker delights and restaurants are within walking distance. For cafe and coffee lovers - The Daily Doser down the street and The Mugshot on Chulia Street, a stone's throw away have very good coffee, cafe ambience and great service staff. There is a night market on Chulia Street that is frequent by locals and some modern food trucks selling burgers, korean food, manned by young entrepreneurs.

Tip - wake up early to explore a Penang not seen during the 'tourist hours'. You mingle with locals in the back lanes, watching devotees and joss stick sellers at the Goddess of Mercy Temple. Walk a little further, Little India provides another cultural insight, then move on to Armenian street to have a delicious steaming bowl of prawn mee, cooked by an elderly uncle at the coffee shop beside Yap Temple. From there, walk to the Clan Jetties and the favourite is the Tan Jetty. The little red hut at the end of the jetty will make your photo 'pop'

Stayed a couple of days here and the suite we were assigned to was not only very roomy with a nice reading area but it was also full of old-world charm. From the exquisite chinoiserie to the netted 4-poster bed, this place almost transports you back in time. But don't be fooled. It has modern amenities like flat screen TV's, split AC's and even a rain shower in the bathroom!

There is an art gallery next to our accommodation as well as a coffee museum out back. It housed an old roaster used back in the day.

The location is great, with the Camera Museum and a few restaurants just a short walk from the hotel. If you fancy a couple of pints, there's Tipsy Tiger across the street to accommodate you. It can get noisy in the evening though so just close your windows if your suite happens to face this party hostel.

Ruby from the cafe/restaurant who greeted us when we arrived was especially helpful. She gave us great advice on places to go, places to eat, places to shop! Actually, all of the staff were very friendly and always wore a smile. Wouldn't think twice about staying here again.

Stayed for 4 nights in Family Suite 47B on the first floor. The hotel is set in a restored 2-storey shophouses dated back almost a century ago. The location is very covenient within walking distance for sightseeing, street foods, cafe, convenient stores, etc. Our suite is on the second floor with 2 bedrooms (1 main bedroom with 4-poster double bed and 1 small single bedroom). Our suite is very spacious and comfortable with all facilities and amenities you need, The staff is friendly and helpful especially Ruby who made us feel welcomed during our stay. They served breakfast which was included in the hotel cafe. Not much on the variety but delicious which was a good start to the day.

The only set back was our last night at the hotel. The family with a small crying child checked in late and banged the door noisily. We had to bear with the weeping child and the angry parents who banged the wall and the door without any thought of other guests. Apart from that, we would not hesitate to recommend this hidden gem to others.

Thanks again for staying with us and for your detailed review. We are glad that you liked our little place Coffee Atelier. Our apologies for the noise disturbance by the ground floor guests - this should not happen. We talked to them and they apologised - but this doesn't help, I know. Best wishes and hope to be able to welcoming you again
