This was one of the most wonderful stays we have had in Asia. The staff were superb, the rooms excellent, the food great. The facilities for kids were fantastic, with a waterpark, water slides, the beach, pools, kids club and icecream bar just to name a few. With a couple of fussy eaters in the family plus a couple of foodies desperate for local food, this resort could easily cater for all of us. I had my birthday while we were there and was thoroughly spoiled by the staff. Dinner on one of the private pavilions watching the sun go down was definitely one of the highlights. Chi Spa is also one of the best spas I have been to and left there feeling like a new woman! There is nothing to fault about this place, truly amazing (good enough that William and Kate were also there during our visit!). Its location and short distance to town makes this a better choice, especially for families, than the partner resort Rasa Ria. You can still go there to see the orangutans and use their facilities as a guest of the Tanjung Aru but we are glad we chose to stay at the Tanjung and not the RR (much further from town and not as intimate).

Everything is good here; the room is clean & spacious, food is good especially the italian restaurant (Peppino), a lots of fun activities for children, best place to have a drink is at the Sun-set bar & etc. Even Prince William & Kate also stayed here when they visited Borneo.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better seaview. Tanjung Block's room have a nearer access to all amenities.

Gorgeous architecture, friendly staff, spacious, well appointed rooms and beautiful grounds. We had a lovely stay here and remember the hotel fondly - the architecture grounds you in your exotic location rather than trying to shield you from it.

I'm trying to think of some flaws to point out but really I can't. We just had a wonderful stay here, in a wonderful property in a wonderful location. Highly recommended.

I love this place. The staff and service is probably the best I have received anywhere in the world. This applies to all the staff too, from the housekeeping to the restaurant and bar staff, to security, baggage handling and front desk, just great. On arrival we were greeted outside and escorted to check in, given drinks and a hot towel, check-in was simple and our luggage met us at the room. The whole hotel, from the room to the eating establishments, rest rooms etc was spotless, a very high level of cleanliness. We were half board, the breakfast and evening buffet was delicious, huge variety covering many different food types, never got bored of the options, which changed daily. Again the staff were great. The desserts in particular were fantastic. Our bed was huge and comfy, and the housekeeping staff do a great job, all the extras and complimentary bits you can imagine, lots of towels, great bathroom. Free wi-fi in room. The general facilities at the hotel are very good, the gardens in particular are lovely. The pool is a great place to relax in, right by the sea with stunning views and sunsets over the islands out to sea. You get free pool towels from a helpful member of staff. Again, friendly and helpful staff everywhere. Free iced water. The staff at the concierge were always very helpful when organising taxis and excursions. Lots of activities going on throughout the day around the hotel and grounds. Can’t recommend this place enough really, was just a fantastic 10-day trip. Prince William and Kate stayed for two nights while we were there which was a surprise.
Only one (very) minor point – the cocktails are not good. How a hotel can do every other single thing so amazingly well, but not cocktails. Bit bizarre. I would suggest to the Manager they employ a professional and experienced cocktail maker, and get them to teach the staff how to make great cocktails.

My Wife and decided to upgrade to a suite upon arrival which included club Kinabalu privileges such a nice way to be spoiled each evening and mornings with evening drinks with canapés and breakfasts cooked to your desire. The room was huge with a separate sitting and tv room just great. everything was refreshed each day including free beer and soft drinks to the bar. The amenities in the hotel are great for both the quite getaway to the family groups. The staff where great very polite and nothing was any trouble to them.. The pools where great and the bar staff polite and friendly . A special hello to Spenser,Jennifer, and Sulaifah. The sunset at the sunset bar is a must and looks even better from the Club lounge on the 6th floor........overall a great experience and a happy stay..

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite in the kinabalu wing well worth the extra.
