Our family of four stayed at the White Cottage for two nights when we first arrived in Kuching. We were taking a risk based on the photos because there were no reviews of the accomodation yet. We found the building and rooms to be new, very clean & good value. The main hotel is a bit more dated and you eat breakfast there. The breakfast had noodles and Chinese fare in addition to toast and coffee/tea. One thing I would note is that our taxi driver had trouble with the address and at that point the White Cottage did not put that they were related (& opposite) the Grand Supreme - an older hotel that everyone would have known. We gave this feedback to the Grand Supreme staff who passed the info on to the hotel manager who went out of his way to apologize and be helpful. I hope the listing(s) now have a better address description. In terms of location, we walked to town and it didn't take long - however, there were a few streets that we needed to traverse that were busy and had no crosswalk. Next to the hotel, on the same side of the drive, is a cute open restaurant - very affordable - that is open in the evenings. We had a really nice fish in lemongrass there one night, and rice cooked in banana leaves.
