Not as shabby as I thought it would be. But it did feel like a time warp. Felt like I was thrown back into the late 80s/early 90s. There's even a karaoke bar that looked dodgy enough that I was tempted to visit. But sadly was too tired.
The newly refurbished rooms are almost up to par when compared to neighboring newer establishments. They could however upgrade their TV service and provide guests cable. The channels were dismal.
The only qualm I had with the room was that the sliding door of the shower was faulty, leading to a flooded toilet everytime I used it. Was too tired to change rooms so I put up with it.
Reception of staff were warm and hospitable with no airs, but don't expect five star service, most seemed fairly new and inexperienced. But their smiles and politeness made up for it. Their breakfast buffet spread was surprisingly ok. I loved their noodle soup.
It's location is far from desirable as there arnt any shops around within walking distance. But have to hand it to them. They arnt that bad.
Price wise... Let's just say my first choice cheaper and newer hotel was fully booked and this was the second closest to where I needed to be.
I know, I know they were awarded 4 stars lol. Well the right question should be...When where they awarded their stars. More
