Our stay at Manana Madera Coffee Estate could not have been more exquisite! From the moment Randy enthusiastically picked us up in Boquete to transport us to his suites, he made us feel that we were the most important facet of his day. He assured that each day of our stay was filled with the perfect blend of activities, relaxation and wonderful dining experiences to match our family needs and the weather. Randy was probably the most positive and genuinely kind host that we ever had in our travels. And then ... there is the suites, property and location! They are almost indescribable with unparalleled magnificence! Randy designed and maintains the suites with incredible attention to detail (i.e. umbrellas and rain jackets to use in the rainforest if necessary, lanterns in the event of power outage, Aveda hair products) and his breakfasts were fabulous! The views and gardens are wonderful, as is his coffee. We learned so much about Panama from Randy! We will most definitely recommend Manana Madera to anyone we know traveling to Panama!!

A safe harbor in a foreign land. Relax, "you're in my care now", means you can truly relax and enjoy your vacation. Randy, a Dell ex-pat, has carved out a slice of Panamanian heaven with his mountain coffee estate. Two unattached luxery guest suites sit atop a vista filed jungled sanctuary. Peace of mind comes from both the surrounds and its host. "Coffee is my living, the guest suites are just for fun". Randy, your host, takes care of every little detail. Pick up upon arrival, departure, and whenever mutually convenient. Drop off at his favorite restaurants, adventure tours, or arranged taxi's from trusted sources. Out and about, not to worry, use your provided cell phone with a direct line to Randy and he will arrange whatever you require. Want quality VIP treatment, simply mention Randy's name - his network is vast and appreciative. The region abounds with things to see, do, and taste. Randy's local knowledge will put your scarce time to maximum enjoyment. And what better way to start the day than sipping "fresh" coffee with a perfectly prepared meal, or ending the day, sipping a "strong" margarita on your hammock amidst the humming birds on a tropical gardened Ranchito with 270 degree views. Thinking of a Boquete sojourn, book early for this value, tranquil, retreat - and relax, your in Randy's care!

Room tip: Both Suites are identical.

There is very, very little I can say that hasn't already been said in previous reviews. My wife and I stayed for 3 nights in June and wish, as many others have said, we would have stayed longer. I would like to avoid hyperbole, but it will be difficult because, simply put, our experience at Manana Madera (MM) was amazing. Hopefully, I will offer some useful information, but, ultimately, what I would like you to take away is how much Randy's kind and hospitable human touch will make the difference during your stay in Boquete.

The Hospitality: During our stay, Randy made us feel as if we were old friends visiting from the states. He was as much of a feature to our stay as the suites and amazing views. He is kind, friendly, and full of local knowledge and wonderful suggestions. We learned early to trust Randy’s recommendations in restaurants and activities and were never disappointed. We miss him as much as the location.

The Suites: Very clean, very comfortable and great attention to detail. The suites are decorated with few, well thought items that complement the finishes and materials used to build the suites. With dark wood and floors, light walls, and huge windows it feels airy and refreshing while remaining cozy and comfortable. I slept like a dream.

The Grounds: A quiet, peaceful, exotic sliver of mountain paradise. About 10 minutes outside Boquete, you’re far enough away to be secluded, but close enough to be convenient. Wonderful flowers and views abound, but the main gem is the ranchito. If there is a better place to drink your coffee, I haven’t found it.

The Value: Second to none. We definitely felt we received far more than what we paid for. You know it’s a great value when you feel like you’re getting away with something.

Attention to Detail: When you’re handed a local cell phone on arrival, you know that you’re being well taken care of. From the Aveda shampoo in the shower, the rain jackets kept in the closet, to the pillow wrapped up in the hammock, the little details added up to make a big difference. It is very apparent that Randy prides himself on providing guests an excellent experience.

Transportation: We utilized Randy’s driver, John, to pick us up in David and drive us to MM. He speaks perfect English, was waiting for us at the airport with a name plate and drove us straight to MM with no fuss. Once at MM, Randy was happy drive us into town and pick us up as his schedule permitted. When he was unavailable, he happily arranged a taxi for us.

Miscellaneous: Many of the activities in the area are best done or start in the morning. We were conflicted between a leisurely morning drinking coffee at the ranchito or getting in the best of Boquete. Therefore, I recommend giving yourself several days to enjoy some of both! We enjoyed an afternoon scooter rental and white water rafting, both at Randy’s recommendation. All arrangements for activities are easily made during your stay, so there is little need to make arrangements before your arrival to Boquete.

The danger of staying at manana madera is that everything you see or do on your vacation will seem a little more dull after leaving here. You will read 'excellent' tripadvisor reviews for other places to stay with cynicism, knowing that those reviewers are no longer working from the same scale as you. The hospitality that you get from future bed and breakfasts will seem a little less hospitable, and cool breezes will be a little less refreshing. This is the kind of place you hear stories about before new management takes over. It feels less like staying at a B&B and more like having a best friend who is a coffee magnate.

My poor attempts at humor aside, the whole experience I had at manana madera was the best vacation experience I have ever had. The accommodations are immaculate, the grounds of his estate are spectacular, but somehow his hospitality just dwarfs all of these things.

Remember to bring extra money as the coffee is addictive and there is a 5 bag purchase limit.

It's hard to write a review for a place that you want no one else to know about. A sense of personal greed comes over me when I think about The Guest Suites at Mañana Madera Coffee Estate. From reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we knew to expect arriving to a phenomenal place. But we didn't know how great it would feel to be here. This place is very special. This place is really phenomenal. Now I'm all for going on a vacation and disconnecting. But in the world we live in and given what my wife and I do for a living, we need to have a connection to the outside world. No prob, this place has excellent wifi in the room, a tv and an iPod Dock. Most of which I refused to use as it would take time away from me listening to the birds and hearing the mountain valley winds.

Yeah it might sound cheesy but this really is a magical place. Randy, the owner is a hell of a guy. Treats you as well as family but is not invasive or intrusive. He will kindly offer up suggestions for lunch or dinner and believe me when I tell you they're spot-on. The views from Mañana Madera are breathtaking. Can't be duplicated anywhere else in the world. Clear views of the Baru Volcano on clear days. Let's not forget that this place is a working coffee farm. What's not to love. Several other parts of the property are also farmed for onions, cabbage and potatoes. Just a walk around the property will reassure you that this is where you need to be to clear your head, listen to what's inside and remember what's really important in life. I can't recommend this place enough.

As you read from others here on TA, the suites are very we'll put together, very nicely decorated, huge picture windows and sliding glass doors which all let you what the mountain is made of. Excellent place to stay if you want to explore Boquete. Set a couple of miles up the road from the center of town, perfect if you like to have your cake and eat it too. Just far enough, but close enough if you know what I mean. Randy deals with a couple of taxi drivers specifically catering to his guests. So getting around is as simple as asking Randy to call you a taxi. Best place to stay in Boquete, Hands Down!
