Very basic but very very good. The chicken and chips was excellent and great value. It was the biggest quarter chicken I have ever seen. Drinks were also very reasonable.

Tried the mixed grill which had chorizo, ribs, chicken and some kind of steak. Came with both fies and patacones for $18. Ordered a side salad for $2 extra.
Our waitress initially forgot the water we'd asked for and had to be reminded but left a cool pitcher at our table.
Salad was tasty. The chicken was a little dry. Chorizo I found a little salty but the others liked it. The ribs were at least half fat and it was hard to separate meat from fat. Steak was fairly tough.
We were stuffed at the end of the meal but I was left disappointed in the quality of the meat. Won't be back.
We had better value and taste for money with the $15 mixed grill plate at La Porquettaro in Panama city.

Just across the police station is Cafe Boquete. A small place with fresh delicious grilled meat, run by a young fellow called Enrique. We dined twice so got the chance to try a few things: churrasco (steak), chorizo parrillero (pork sausage) , costillas de cerdo (pork ribs with BBQ sauce) and their burger with cheese and bacon and every single thing was absolutely delicious. We chose patacones (fried batter banana slices. A must!) instead of the typical chips. Worth to try and I'm sure you'll love them, as we did. Nice and crispy. Enrique seems serious and maybe shy but once you get chatting with him, his very interesting to talk to and very friendly. Both times it was full of locals, in fact, we were the only foreigners. I highly recommend this place. They open until really late.

We had our first meal in Boquete at Big Daddy's. They have a lot of options for food and drinks and this is good place for lunch or dinner. I am unsure if they are open for breakfast. I had a shrimp po-boy. I love po-boys. The fish is fresh and the bread is delicious, if not a bit too chewy for this particular meal. I like a softer bun for a po-boy. But, the bread was outstanding! I am not sure if they bake it themselves or if they get it elsewhere. The sandwich comes with a choice of sides; patacones (I think), fries or a salad. And, they are generous with the sides too. My husband had a veggie burger. This was a homemade burger with a base of black beans, mushrooms and veggies. It too, was delicious. The bun was again, terrific. It was another style of bread. But, again we would buy just he buns if we could, to go. If they are doing the baking, they should open a bakery here too! The sandwich had a side of beans and rice. Both were good too. The only issue we had, is the sticker shock. The food is good. they are generous too. I think we paid a good price for what we ordered. Though, it isn't cheap. They also have burgers, other fish dishes etc. They appear to have two or more fresh fish options daily. The staff was outstanding.
