We were in Russia for watching the FIFA worldcup.
Not planned before but we visited the beautiful War Museum.
It was really amazing experience, even if you are not a history following man still you will entertain a lot in this place.
They have beautifully recreated the popular scenes and places of the World Wars.
If you are ever going to Russia, you must visit this place.
You only have to spent around 300 Rubels.

This is an amazing Museum and well worth your time. The museum features a full retelling of the War of 1812 offering exhibits, uniforms, equipment and other unique artifacts from the war. Get a guide and let them bring the museum to life. Really interesting stuff in the museum and you could spend a lot of time looking at all the period uniforms, guns and other items. An absolute must for Napoleon fans and history buffs. Right off Red Square. In addition to being an interesting museum - architecturally, the space is also very interesting and attractive.

Although this museum is not hidden - it is right next to the State History Museum on Red Square, not many know of its significance. This museum houses an exhibition on Napoleon's invasion into Russia in 1812, and the most amazing exhibit of them all - all of napoleon's orders and decorations, which he lost while fleeing at Waterloo. Highly recommend it to all interested in history.

Very good museum explaining the foolish invasion of Russia by Napoleon. Perhaps a bit too many artifacts on the second floor. Toward the end of the exhibit on the first floor are excellent paintings of the winter scenes that lead to Napoleon's downfall. War is inevitabley painful rather than than grand. Very good museum. Recommended.

Easy to find super exhibition center, has original uniforms and weapons, amazing volume of original items.
Get the audio guide in English as most exhibits do have English translated tags but is tedious to read and breaks the flow of the development of the time flow of this period.
Nice little cafe attached but difficult to exit if you want to return to the exhibition. Suggest go at the end when you have collected your items from the cloakroom.
