I stopped here briefly on the way to the Aloysha monument. There are strict times for when visits are permitted, with big gaps between. Since I was a long way from the next available slot I decided to miss the interior. Worth checking the visit times if you're planning to see it.

Tank of smelly water with animals that are doing mild tricks while hostess tells a fairy tale linking the tricks to a storyline. Even sitting on the top, third row, we were in abject terror of being splashed and stinking of dirty fish water the rest of our trip.
Unless you have children or want to see Russians enjoying their children, this is a skip.

Don't think of this as anything like you would find in more developed parts of the world. It's a small enclosure with arctic seals performing tricks, and has nothing to do with conservation.

The oceanarium is next to the large lake where people do ice swimming, and the attraction park for children. The 1hr long shows they put on are interesting and fun to watch and the well-treated mammals seem to enjoy taking part. It's not very expensive and visitors can always incorporate it as part of a mini tour to include the church, the lighthouse monument to perished seamen, the Kursk submarine memorial, Alyosha statue and panorama views of the fjord, port and city.

have reading other rewiews and had not so big expections, but get to se a very good show, the seals was very well trained and it is a lot of hard work behind to learn them all this, they have all ther personal trainer and seems to be happy and like wath they do, a high class show very much worth the money. the water is green, and not so wiseble trow the windows on the first floor, but its the same in the sea where they live in the wild, the shows take place in the second floor. If you are afraid to get little water on you dont sit in the first row. Someone wrote it smells fisch, not so strange when they eat hundreds of kilos with fisch every day and at least 20 kilo under the show.
Only minus is the size of the tank/pool it should be much bigger.
