On a slushy cold day came across this gem of of a place, one of a small chain of German beer houses. This one is on Vasilevsky Island on the North side of the Neva, not far from the City Tram Museum or Submarine C-189. Worth making your way here on it's own account anyway, as it's a little off the beaten track, so a break from the tourist trail. It's a real find, feels warm and intimate, very cosy atmosphere. Multitude of weird and wonderful German beers and drink and similarly wide range of Herman food. Very tasty and good value. Lovely warm friendly staff, our lack of Russian and their lack of English proved no problem! Good place. Going to return on my next visit
