My son and I visited this restaurant that was quite close to our hotel. Nikhao is a small chain with several locations; we were at the Nevsky 112 location. They had a very extensive menu – 60 pages of selections (albeit 2-4 per page) in the main menu, plus a specials menu that had to be at least 20 pages! Both my son and I felt the food was good, and somewhat different than what we’d had at Chinese restaurants in the US, but the service was slow and had other quirks, such as having my son brought three dishes he ordered first, and then waiting at least 5-10 minutes more for any of my food to arrive. The food was fairly spicy, in contrast to my son’s other experiences that Russian restaurants are more geared for bland foods, both in Russian offerings and in the way they treat other cuisines, including Chinese food. We recommend the food, but just go prepared not to be put off by the service.
