We are glad that we found this restaurant. It's less than 10 mins walk from our hotel but the sign of the front door is difficult to spot if you did not follow google map. It's easy to pass by without even noticed it was there.

We dined here twice during our 4 nights stay in the city. Our favourite dish is stir fried lamb xinjiang style. It was definitely 5 stars comparing to what we ate in Beijing. However, there is one dish that was not qute good as we expected. The salted egg shrimp is very oily and not very crispy as it should be. The vegetable dishes such as stir fried eggplants are quite tasty. Overall, we liked most of the dishes that we ordered.

The price of the foods are very reasonable comparing to the qualities of ingredients used. We would definitely come back here for our next visit to St.Petersburg.

Tried out this restaurant after reading TripAdvisor reviews, and we (4 Chinese from Australia) were desperate for our comfort food as Russian food does not appeal to us.

The restaurant was busy (7:30pm) but we were able to get a table ( large restaurant).
Had a Hot-&-Sour soup (for 4pp) and the large bowl certainly could feed 4 of us with two bowls each. This was quite authentic & delicious, just enough spiciness from the white pepper and not too starchy, with many different condiments finely julienned.
Score for this soup 9.5/10 !

The cold salted cheeses chicken was not what we expected compared to picture in menu. It was dry, not too fresh. 4/10

Followed by braised fried dofu on hot plate. Dofu fresh and nice, tasted good, only slightly starchy for my personal liking but acceptable. 6/10

Braised eggplant was tasty, not too oily, a tad starchy which was not necessary at all: 6/10

Cold vegetable dish with vermicelli & peanuts. Made error with this order as we thought it was a hot dish. A tad salty but tasted ok: 6/10

2 serves of steamed rice was sufficient for the 4 of us.
Service was friendly, but the tea took a while to come. However once we got it the refills of hot water was without fuss.

On the whole an acceptable meal for the price, given that we were desperate for Chinese food. Will definitely come back for the hot & sour soup, and try other dishes. The menu choices tend to suggest that the main style is Sichuan cooking, although we did not order actual Sichuan dishes.

I went to this restaurant with friend and really enjoyed the meal. Ordered lamb soup and hong shao (braised pork with garlic and chili pepper). Both were excellent quality.
Also B-52 shots were great) Prices for food are reasonable but most alcoholic drinks way too expensive.

The food brought to us in about 1.5 hours and it was cold, the absence of one meal from the order was reported only after an hour of waiting, in Kotejljah is only ice, and the instruments were not available to us, they given to us the last sticks. It's just a horrible place. Don't waste your nerves and time.

Definitely would recommend Nihao to my friends. After so many disappointing visits of different suschi bars and restaurants in St. Petersburg, this one was surprisingly good. Not big but good choice of rolls and suschi, as well as noodles, soups and dishes of Chinese cousine. Friendly service and cosy atmosphere. If you have some friends from China or Japan visiting you - bring them here
