I stumbled across their website and since the reviews were good - decided to try it for a client dinner. These Clint's love Italian - and to date we had only marginally good Italian food as recommended by the hotels. Hilton room so so, Westin Prego not really Italian and Four seasons overpriced dishes marginal food.
So the 7 of us tried Anima &Core last Monday the night.
It turned out to be a delightful authentic Naples style menu - with a special Ragu (cooked for for 9 hours) to die for.
The antipasti was fresh and good, mozzarella home made, the pizzas are thin crusted Napoli style wit imported cheese, and the pasta e wash after fabulous. We had family style and were so stuffed after the pasta dishes - could not go on to the second entry course.
We finished off with some homemade cheese cake a rum soaked cake - that was fabulously claim to be au. This is worth the trip across town - forget the other places that McLain to be authentic - this is see the real deal. Go see Renato and his Napoli chef for a meal you would swear you were in Italy having.
A little hard to find - 4th floor above a Turkish Restaurant - but worth trying

Common problem of Italian restaurants abroad is to find fresh and good quality ingredients.

At this restaurant the chef has the solution, he makes them! I was amazed to learn he can make mozzarella, various kind of cheeses and even cold cuts, excellent!
Not only he can make these things, also the seafood spaghetti was very good.

I'll surely return to enjoy some more italian flavors, is a way to feel at home on the other part of the world.

If italian food is what you're looking for this is a very good option. The chef is quite good and takes food shopping and taste into real consideration. Must have is mozarella di bufala, fish pasta and good pizza.
On the downside: restaurant is located on a 4th floor....the deco is quite basic and needs improvement.

Great food, especially all the home made cheese and salami that the Chef prepares for his guests. I would suggest the buffalo mozzarella among all, the best i have ever had in China.
Pizza and home made pasta are awesome and the service very friendly.
Furthermore, Chef Rino is very nice and friendly and always keen to arrange for us the food and service based on our request. We have missed a place like this in Guangzhou. Thanks to Anima and Core!
In few words.....a REAL and GENUINE Italian restaurant!
