The hotel had large rooms and good location.
It was not right In the heart of the action as we tend to like but the hotel rooms and friendly helpful service were great.

Even though not right in the heart of the shopping and entertainment districts there was a major subway only 50metres down the road, and was on major bus routes all going to the major areas of Kyoto .

The bus ride to get to the main shopping area or Kyoto train station was no more than 5 to 10 minutes . If you get the bus day pass for 500 y ( great value) from the hotel lobby you get unlimited bus rides all over Kyoto to all the attractions. The busses run frequently and the major hop on busses go past the hotel.

There is enough eating places around the hotel at night and as mentioned only 5 minutes bus ride to the main eating and shopping districts.

Breakfast was good and enough to get you going for the day.

Great hotel would definitely stay again and recommend .

We only spent one night here, but the hotel was very good for the purpose it served. Beds were large & comfortable; staff were very friendly, although with limited English; and the location is close to a train station or bus stops for you to get around easily.
Reception is on the 1st floor, so take the elevator. On the ground floor there is a large 7 Eleven. This should come in handy, as breakfast is not necessarily included. You can get anything at the 7 Eleven (although skip the coffee and just get a can of Boss). The hotel does offer breakfast, served on the same floor as reception, but we did not take that option and cannot comment.
Rhino hotel was excellent value for money. Just make sure you know how to use Kyoto's public transport, then you're good to go!

From Nagoya station, it is a subway and railway trip to the hotel. Be aware that neither of these trips are covered by the JR pass.

Although a hike from the city centre, the hotel is well-placed to explore beautiful Kyoto, with buses and trains to almost everywhere. I found the staff competent, but not especially friendly. My room was clean and well-maintained.

The hotel does have a sento (traditional public bath) which is free for guest use, however the pool costs extra.

The hotel is quite affordable and I would probably stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose a high-room.

Do not be misled by this hotel's location. Although it is not in the very centre of Kyoto it is very well located on a key transport interchange giving easy access to the train and bus network.

The rooms are well proportioned, airy, well lit, and very well maintained. The staff are professional and on the ball. We did not use the restaurant as we preferred to get out and about and sample Kyoto's plentiful offerings. The hotel is kept clean and smart and the bathrooms are well appointed and have plenty of room. The beds are fluffy and comfortable - just what the weary tourist needs after a hard day's sightseeing!

Well worth considering for your stay in Kyoto.

Location next to Hankyu Sain station and 3 min walk from Randen, but quite few sleazy bars karaoke around it (they leave tourists alone).
Room: larger than most Japanese rooms, comfy bed, good WiFi. Must leave room key with staff when leaving hotel.
Others : staff attentive and helpful. Breakfast was good if you like Japanese food, but very limited for Westerners. Free bathhouse inside the gym on the second floor. Pool is pay per use.
Overall nice business hotel.
