Since we booked this hotel partly because we like to have a swim after touring the sights all day it was very disappointing that I could not bring my 8 yr old son in the pool in the afternoon. Kids are only allowed in the pool 7-9 AM! I guess this also says a bit about what clientele the hotel caters to.
Other than that the hotel is very nice. The rooms are big although our room was a bit dated and in need of refurbishment. The location in the Kyoto Station is perfect with only a 5 mins walk from the Shinkansen track when you arrive/leave. Also all kind of local trains available from the station and buses and taxis from just in front of the station.
The hotel has 3 restaurants from which you can choose to have breakfast. We mostly had the western/asian buffet which was good. Also tried the Japanese restaurant once for a traditional meal, but without coffee available we only tried it once :). The service is good and the concierge was very helpful when my wife asked where she could buy a specific product.

A great base for being a tourist in Kyoto, more convenient than previous visits. Staying here took all the hassle out of getting around, being right by the ticket office and turnstiles into the station (up escalators to the right as you head out the central ticket gate). It's a comfortable chain/business style hotel.

As a tourist, it provided the perfect base to visit Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari and various other temples by using local trains, all of which was really simple to do. There's an English speaking information desk to the right of the station turnstiles as you face them, they were always really helpful to make sure we got the right platforms. If you don't fancy using trains, there was always a big queue of taxis outside the entrance, and getting back by taxi was easy as everyone knows the station.

The room was a good size, bed was comfortable and everything was clean. We thought prices for food were a little high and the post midnight menu limited (we arrived late at night), but overall we were comfortable here. The concierge was very helpful to recommend and book restaurants for us (including an excellent Yakiniku place 2 blocks away down the road directly opposite the station).
Breakfast was good without being fantastic. More than adequate and very efficient, but without it being a gourmet treat.

The concierge also directed us to the Ramen floor (10th) of the shopping mall in the station. The lifts are a pain, but you can get there really easily by using the outdoor escalators directly opposite from where you come down to the station from the hotel. They go all the way up to the 10th floor. Pretty good value food.

Very nice hotel in a central location in Kyoto - close to everything. The rooms are very quiet, even though i was facing the station itself. Very nice breakfast option at the hotel. the rooms are very clean as well.

I stayed one week in a granvia deluxe room. The room was spacious with a seating area & a large comfy bed. There was a separate bath & shower. The maids were quick to clean the room each day. We were on the top floor & had a good view of Kyoto tower. There was a small balcony but it was very hot & there wasn’t any seating on it.

We used the laundry service a few times which was quick, efficient & reasonably priced.

The granvia lounge has a large tea selection, coffee machine & a few fresh fruit juices. There are some small nibbles in the day & a small selection of cereals & pastries in the morning for breakfast. It doesn’t compare to usual hotel lounges eg at Sofitel, Hilton & Shangri-la hotel properties, but it is a nice space to cool off & have a quick drink.

With a granvia room we had complementary access to the pool which we used once. We had to wear a swimming cap which was provided. There is a jacuzzi & sauna. It was very quiet!

The hotel location was perfect for us because we were out every day visiting Osaka, Kyoto, Himeji, Hiroshima etc. It was very convenient for the airport express train too. We ate at the ‘gourmet street’ on the 11th floor of the train station department store most nights because it was so convenient & there was a good selection of Japanese restaurants.

The hotel took our photo & put it in a photo frame for a honeymoon gift which was a lovely touch.

I specifically because I had a few early morning Shinkansen (bullet) trains leaving at 7.30am and back near midnight so I wanted a place to stay with a good location to Kyoto station. Well, this is it and then some! It is based actually in the train station so you can be awake at 7am and on the train with a coffee and pastry at 7.30am - I did exactly that! The room was perfect with a view of the train platforms if you like train stations - I do! There are some great value restaurants on the 10th floor of the station (not the hotel) which do great Ramen. Considering how much travelling I did staying here was most definitely one of my better decisions and highly recommended if you're dashing around on the Shinkansen trains!
