In bustling Gion, but under the cherry trees near a side canal is Gion S, an Italian restaurant in operation for about 9 years. The wine, lunch of mushroom pasta, wrapped pizza and capresee were prompt, delicious and fairly priced; sitting outside was a joy - minus the convenience store, and I could only imagine what Hanami might have been like; staff friendly and bilingual. Takes credit cards.
