Ever wondered what it's like to live in an 8-tatami mat flat? We spent one night at this "modern Japanese" Ryokan at the end of our trip. It was a fantastic experience.
We had a warm welcome and stay: tea and snacks in our room on arrival, access to a spring water communal hot bath (Onsen), a dinner feast set out for us in our room, very comfy futons, and then another breakfast feast in the morning in the banqueting hall. The flat had its own private bathroom and toilet, as well as an enclosed balcony overlooking the canal. To separate the balcony from the living area were a set of traditional sliding screen doors. Very pretty.
Although few staff spoke Japanese, I could tell that everyone was sincere and genuinely pleased that we had chosen their Ryokan. The owners even gave us departing gifts and advice on how to get from Nipponbashi to Shin-Osaka station to catch our Shinkansen.More
