“ok but...”
Reviewed 13 December 2011

This hotel is located in the China Town where there is a market on some days of the week. The location would be perfect but the rooms are not very good. We got a room with bed bugs. The airconditioning was very noisy anw was spitting water on us the whole night.
The shower int he bathroom wasn't separated from the rest of the floor sa after having a shower everything was wet. If you decide to stay in this hotel make sure you wear flip-flops when you go to the bathroom after having a shower.
Also, it was the cheapest hotel we found in KL and we only stayed there one night. But truly, I would go back there again. I still remember the bites on my legs!

My room was clean but 2 other rooms I was travelling with had the worst odor possible. The staff was nice. However, I used the internet and Laundry services of another hotel close by as they were cheaper. Located right in China Town on Petaling Street. Yes, that street is busy however, I just asked for a backside room and I never heard a thing! Close to the MRT which is great!

Staff were of no help, our air conditioner dripped water onto the pillows and froze up after firing ice over the bed...no towels or toilet paper were left when rooms were made up,called office numerous times for replacements. Petaling Street turns into a market from around 12 noon to midnight so rooms overlooking were very noisy....Taxi access to Petaling Street is impossible during Market times...When it rains the street becomes an ankle deep river of water, kitchen waste and rubbish....just what you want when booking in or out with bags.......Overall its cheap and nasty with "a breakfast" ?? thrown in......If you want Markets you are in the right place....then what do you do with the rest of your nights?.

Room Tip: If you want cheap and nasty this is the place for you.

This must be one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in, but I need to point out that this statement applies only to the rooms and the building itself, not to the attitude of the staff or the services they provide. They have all been polite and as helpful as possible, and the included breakfast and daily housekeeping are good for accommodation in this price range. The rooms, however, are not. There is something inherently rotten within this building and a moist, oppressive, sticky film covers you as soon as you enter, and breathing feels immediately slightly more difficult. Our rooms (we changed once) were infused with an overwhelming stench akin to what I imagine a week old, damp and faecally soiled cadaver must smell like in a tropical climate. Staff were very obliging when we asked to change rooms, and floors (without improvement in the smell), but giving us the distinct impression that this was a common request amongst the guests. The fact that our first room came with pre-attached air-fresheners to the blades of the air-conditioner should have alerted us, I suppose. No matter what we did - having the air-conditioner on or off, on warm or cold temperature setting, opening or closing the windows, or any combination of these - the stench of putrefaction remained as potent as ever. The dampness also remained unaffected, and far exceeded that of the humid climate you are subjected to on the streets of Kuala Lumpur (which in actual fact felt quite refreshing upon exiting the hotel). If they can somehow sort out the odour and moisture problems within the hotel it would immediately receive a better review from me. At present, the only thing that saves this D'Oriental Inn from a one star review by me is its staff and breakfast. I'll leave it up to you to make a decision about whether or not to stay here, but don't say I didn't warn you (of course, we may have stayed in the only horrible two rooms of the place, but I strongly doubt that that is the case).

If one is looking for clean rooms to come and sleep without any frills, then this is the place to be. The other advantage is you get an excellent buffet breakfast which sustains you through greater part of the day. Staff is very helpful, friendly and polite. There is plenty of choices just outside the hotel in terms of shopping and choices of food.

Room Tip: Not much of help here. If you are looking for a view than only the front setting rooms would make se...
