Intramuros is a step back in time. Intamuros is Spanish for within the walls. This beautiful walled area is within Manila. It has many pre war structures and the area is flat and great for a long walk. You can also take a bike ride or have a guide, all up to you.

It was once the center for education, churches and the economy of the area. The area is being renovated in some areas and restored in others. It really is an education to walk through, there is just so much to see.

Fort Santiago is located there and is a National Historical Landmark. The fortifications are considered National Cultural Treasures, by the National Museum of the Philippines.

San Agustin Church is also located here. It is a wonderful place to spend the day. You will find street vendors and the area is safe. Have a great time.

Frequently visit the place to take non-Filipinos who are staying for a bit in Manila. The most recent one was the most interesting because of the tour. I suggest do the tour w a tourguide (try Bambike Ecotours!) to understand a bit of the history of the place and Philippines as a whole.

Intramuros was very clean showcasing both it's history and present day living. It was nice to see the area still being lived in with locals walking around in the street, going to churches, etc.

A short walk from Rizal Park. Lots of street vendors will offer you bicycle tours but if you are fit it’s a flat walk and very safe to walk round and do your own thing! Totally different to Manila central it’s like stepping into ancient Europe! Clean beautiful wide streets with amazing architecture ! Certainly worth the visit. Allow a lot of time to see everything you can be there for hours and just scratch the surface! Highly recommend !

We toured Intramuros as part of a bicycle tour and really enjoyed seeing and learning out the history. The walled city the churches and the interesting little narrow roads were great to see. Well worth seeing and a good contrast to modern Manila
