This Indian on bar Street is the best Indian I have had abroad.the quality and authenticity is superb.and yes as mentioned the peshwari naan is incredible! Great value at £10 for set meal, would have paid more.service was polite and friendly.people are complaining of slow service but ours was just right.didnt rush it through but didn't take forever.were there about an 1hr and half but what's the rush, relax your on holiday! The reason for some complaints about overwaiting is because the Bradford man that greets you is the chef and the only man who can cook this food authentically to this standard.please be more understanding as it is worth waiting for.
Go before 8.45 pm and if by any chance it's rammed yes you could be waiting a while so come back tomorrow!

Came here for dinner last week...restaurant empty but food was nice. Decided to return last night (1 week later) to find they had a group of 18 and 2 other tables. We sat down to be informed by the other guests that they had been waiting for over an hour for their food after their starters. We waited for 20 minutes with no acknowledgement so we decided to leave. We were then chased by the owner who literally begged us to say, we explained we would come back another night when he's not so busy. He wouldn't give up and promised that we would have our food in 30 minutes. We felt sorry for him so said ok, took our order (which was from the deal that includes a bottle of wine) we then waited 10 minutes before we were given our wine, a further 30 minutes until poppadoms and another 50 minutes for our starter. At this point I had already spoken to the owner several times explaining this was far too long and we had wanted to leave, begrudgingly agreed to give us one free drink which still never materialised 25 minutes later. At this point it was gone 11 pm and we had been her for over 2 hours. We then explained that we were leaving, we didn't want to eat at this time and were really disappointed at how we had been treated. We offered to pay for the wine...to this we had a tirade of objections that out food would be here soon and he had spent time cooking it etc and we could not go. I explained again why we were leaving..said we would pay for our wine...he begrudgingly said ok and then proceeded to try and charge us more than what our whole meal would have cost (which we hadn't had!) at this point enough was enough and we walked away followed by threats to phone the police and abuse from the owner. This was an extremely unpleasant experience for us and made us feel very uneasy for the rest of our stay. Very disappointed and disheartened as I feel we were more than reasonable and had given him many chances only to be treated in this unforgivable manner.

Last time we came here was four years ago and the food was excellent. Unfortunately it seems to have gone down hill. The food was not up to the standard of the curry we get back home. The service though was excellent. Gumbet its self was very quite and the restaurant was dead which is a shame.

This is the second time we have ate hear after being told about it last year and once again the food and service were exceptional.
It is a hard place to find as it is situated upstairs next to the Red Dragon tattoo shop in Barr Street.
But it is well worth finding, my wife and I had traditional Indian meals which were not only delicious but value for money.
