We decided to go to the Archdale Soda Shop today based on other great reviews on Trip Advisor. When we arrived about 1 pm, the parking lot was cram jam full. Luckily, we found a spot near the back entry door. A young man with an order pad was keeping watch on the back lot, ready to take orders from your car, as other reviewers have noted. This retro gem of a place really does make you feel you're back in the 1950's at the top local burger joint. Inside there are a few booths right in front of the cash register. If you keep walking straight ahead, there is another room with additional seating which we did not go in. People were standing around the cash register waiting to order, and when a booth became available, I sat down. The two servers - the previously mentioned young man and a young lady - were roving with order pads in hands, taking orders from people as they came in or when they sat down. Hubby ordered the Hot Dog Special with 2 hot dogs, french fries, and a drink for under $5 . He ordered the hot dogs with chili, mustard, and onions - and passed on the slaw on top of the chili dogs. I ordered the Double Cheese Burger special which came with french fries, and a drink for about $6.50 . He loved the hot dogs and my double cheeseburger was great. Our french fries came in little red and white checked cardboard trays. All the food items came wrapped in white semi-opaque paper like they served them in the 50's. Our server was very attentive, refilling our drinks each twice and then offering us drink filled to go cups as well. Despite the crowd, our food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious. Although the prices were not 1950's level, this great food is a tasty bargain at low prices you will love. This was our first visit to the Archdale Soda Shop and it is a place we will love to eat again. If you are in the vicinity during their hours of operation, we think this is a place you should visit.
