We stayed here while visiting family over the holidays. Nice rooms, with separate bedroom and kitchenette- liked the gym and it is in a really great location for dining, shopping and sight seeing. Our daughter slept on the pull out sofa and said it was comfortable.

Was here for longish 3-week stay as part of job move. I cannot find any substantial point of weakness in this property.

It is clean, well staffed, and the staff are extremely professional, friendly and accommodating. The rooms and corridors and very clean, and the gym is well equipped and open 24 hours, which comes in handy. The breakfast is very good, though it runs a bit low on vegetables (there's just a bit of spinach leaves). Being a long stay hotel, the in-suite kitchen was very efficient and the vicinity to supermarket and a great Peruvian chicken roasting place (super pollo) was a plus. In all, this is very functional establishment — it’s not luxurious or meant to be your destination for the once in a lifetime visit to DC, but will more than do for all other purposes.

We stayed here from day after xmas to NYE. Perfect place for family. With small kitchen that had almost everything we needed, especially the freezer/fridge and dishwasher. Breakfast buffet had plenty of choices. Also free drinks and snacks in the evenings. Pool is indoor but small. Limited hours but with lifeguard. Close to lots of dinner and sandwich places. And close to Metro which is what we took to get into and out of DC. Easy access to highways. Bed was hard as a rock. Sleep sofa was okay for kids but probably not for adults. Anyways great place for decent DC price.

We spent four nights at the Residence Inn in Ballston and could not be any more pleased with the stay. The hotel is very well maintained and appointed. I enjoyed the fitness area in peace everyday (at 6:00 AM) which was great. Breakfast was not fantastic, but sufficient for the kids. There were several great spots close by (less than 5 minute walk) which augmented what the hotel had available and I brought breakfast back 3 of the 4 days. There were a few quick dinner/lunch places near by as well which kept everyone happy. Proximity to grocery stores (HT and WF were 2 minutes and 10 minutes away, respectively) allowed us to make great use of the full kitchen. Parking was easy and plentiful which made getting in and out great. We were on the 8th floor and could hear some minor road noise, but nothing which kept us up all night. Getting into DC was easy from this hotel by car and the Metro was a few blocks over, though we drove in each time rather than taking the Metro.

If there was a downside for us it would be the limited pool hours, 5-10 PM on weeknights which is tough to swallow for kids who really wanted to use the pool. I am not sure if the pool was actually locked as I saw a family in there around 9:00 AM one day, but that is a policy which is misguided when considering families.

The service was great. Each person I spoke with at the desk was helpful and they did what they could to make our stay comfortable. We enjoyed our time here and would stay again on our next visit.

This is a top notch hotel at a reasonable price. Clean and almost elegant. Worthy of a big city but with a small town charm. Lobby was expansive but warm and the guest rooms are large with comfortable beds and large baths. We would return over and over and would recommend highly to anyone traveling to the DC area.
