We had a wonderful meal here with the kids. Gazpacho, tortilla, patatas bravas as well as other tapas. The kids loved it and asked why we don't go there more often. Good question!

Having been two years removed from visiting Barcelona, we've been hungry for Tapas so we couldn't pass up this opportunity. We certainly weren't disappointed with the options and the taste. The reality, however, is that Tapas is much like sushi in that the you need to be mindful of how much you're ordering because the prices can get away from you fast. One thing I liked about many of the places in Barcelona was that most small plates were under 10 Euros while most small plates here were above $12. If everyone gets one plate to share then obviously the price is reasonable; however, to get the full experience everyone needs to order at least two or three small plates and with drinks...you get the idea.

My how Crystal City has changed! Thirty-five years ago I wouldn't have put Crystal City and trendy in the same paragraph, let alone in the same sentence!

José Andrés has been doing restaurants right for years, and Jaleo is no exception. Now with three locations in the D.C. metro area, the Crystal City location might now be my favorite, as it's easy to get to and for me very close to work and friends.

This is not a hushed, oak paneled D.C. watering hole where backdrop deals are made. It's a clean, sleek, modern and comfortable take on Spanish tapas with a great vibe, fun food and great drinks. Everything, especially service, was terrific.

Tips: If you have a group, reservations are a must, otherwise you will wait for a table. Don't be afraid to go a little out of your comfort zone when trying the various tapas. The Cadiz style grilled squid with white beans was a nice surprise. The cured Iberian ham is always a standout.

This is an excellent restaurant that can be enjoyed by singles, couples and families. They have excellent Gin and Tonics on the drink menu for those that way inclined. The menu is extensive and takes special care of those with allergies. The highlight must be the "liquid" olives!

They dump food on the table, they dont care what it is or who it's for, and they clear it away the same way, just reaching in and grabbing dishes without a word. Food is overpriced for what you get and the restaurant is really noisy.
